When I was a kid, I had a hand-me-down deathstar playset. It was nearly complete, just missing the trash, rope, and card board inserts.
I LOVED this playset. Used it for my SW guys as well as GI Joe. Sadly, the old deathstar went the way of all of my childhood toys. Trashed while I was away.
Over the years, I had often thought about the Deathstar and about 6 years ago, I ordered one off of ebay. It came in just as the one I had as a kid; No trash,no rope, no inserts. I knew that it was incomplete, but it didn't matter to me at the time.
As I put the thing together, It really took me back to my childhood. A buddy of mine stopped by and as he looked at my new toy, he mentioned that he had heard, when he was a kid, that if you bought enough Deathstar playsets, you could place them sided by side and since they were wedge shaped, they would form one BIG, round Deathstar.
This idea haunted me for years.Until earlier this year when I bought another deathstar (complete) It came in and I put it together and placed it beside my other DS. I bought another, thinking it would only take maybe 5 to make this huge base.
I now have 5 Deathstars sets, side by side, and it will take another 5 to complete the base.
10 deathstars....This playset will be bigger than any other playset that I have. Bigger than the USS Flagg (not as long but bigger) WAAAAY bigger than a terror drome, I mean it will be roughly 4 feet wide when finished.
It really is pretty amazing, although it will also end up being very expensive.
I hope to get pics up when I'm done....One day.
