I will apologize in advance for interfering with your reading.
I have undertaken what is going to be a long project - an attempt to clean out the ID section of the forums. I have been asked to do so as this category has now reached a vast depth and noone is going to bother going back 22 pages to look for something when most of them are entitled "What is this" or "I need help". It was 32 pages before I removed the dead link requests. We thought it best that if the item is identified, it should be re-titled and placed in the category to which it belongs, ie Transformers, Wrestling figures, Western figures, MOTU, etc.
Unfortunately, when this is done, it makes it look like a new entry - you will see some names that have not posted here in quite awhile. If you read the forums by using the "last 100 method", this is going to affect your reading time. To those reading section by section, it will appear that the last entry in a particular topic was done in 2005, 2006, etc.
What I am going to do is title the item and put the term "ID" on the end, such as "Mighty Max ID", where the "ID" portion is to signify to you that the item has been moved after its identification and if you choose to skip over it, feel free.
The things that wil remain in the ID section will be the multiple ID requests such as the weapons where, they are all (hopefully) numbered as there is no one place to put them as we would like. The unidentified items will also remain here.
As I said, this is going to take some time. I do not know if it will be a matter of a day or two, a few days or weeks at this point. I will have to see how it goes.
Please pardon the dust.

I think it would be fine if ID'd items got deleted, since it's mostly for the OP's use. Maybe have a page limit in ID and if you don't bump your thread in time, it's gone.

I try to just keep the one ID thread for myself. As for the "moved" and new threads, I just mark 'em as read.

For what it's worth, I've actually been looking at the old ID threads, and have actually used them to identify some things. I can't imagine I'm the only person that does that. So if space/bandwidth isn't an issue, it'd be nice to keep them around *some*where.

You know how they have that ID section at yojoe, that shows the figures produced by "year" and literally just has an image of all the joes. Back when I was really getting into gijoe that was like the BEST way for me to figure it all out.
Imagine if we could do that somehow, like literally show small images of every toy produced in a year. I know it would be literally impossible, but it would be cool to see it all done up.

It would be nice to cross reference them by year, but I really do not know of anyone who searches by year. Joes, if anything, would likely do it that way, but if would take someone way more talented than me to be able to determine what year many of these were made. I am probably lucky if I get them in the right category. I did a page yesterday and it took me forever to get it done with retitling, moving it, then having to get back to where I was with each item moved and many of them did not move as they were either not identified or there were multiple items involved. Tfnut, if you see anything you know, feel free to put an ID on it. It is going to be a while for me to get from 2005 to 2011.

Also what i am going to do is any of the ID threads that Figure Collector moves and renames, If their is a similar thread that already exists for that figure line, I will merge the ID thread with it. This way the info is retained and it will also be sorted by date inside the thread once its merged.
Might be a few weeks once we're all done, but things will be allot more organized and easier to reference to.

Would it be possible to make an ID section not by year ....but by type likehuman, alien , gun , sword , etc... similar to the whobit on yojoe.com or an action figure figure/weapon ID'd section but maybe take out the color coordination thats alot of valuable information it would be ashame to just get rid of if plus if you had a way to show a picture and at the very least the title of what the item goes to it could possibly cut back on the number of posts in the id section I realize not everything gets Id'd but I have noticed some stuff pops up a number of times in different posts
Just a thought

I think he was referring to putting them in chronological order rather than by year of manufacture, if I am reading your post correctly, deadpool0207.
This is an extremely time consuming review as it is and I am not sure the extra time to put it by figure, accessory, weapon, is going to be possible. Chad may or may not be back over the weekend, but I have brought your post to his attention.

OK cleaned up the GI Joe & MOTU sections merging any of the moved ID threads. Also merged other threads that were duplicated, changed a few titles and general clean-up..... phew!
