I am wondering if the rope that is on my Greyskull lift is original. Can anyone show how it needs to look? Thanks.

In my bestest memory of opening the box, you had to supply the rope yourself. There IS no 'official' Greyskull Rope copyright Mattel Inc. like you would, for instance, find with the Star Wars Millenium Falcon and that bead they called the training remote.

Really? No piece of string supplied in the box? Seems strange, anyone can confirm this?

I have never had the privilage of examining a mint 100% Castle Grayskull, mine has been completed gradually piece-by-piece over the years. Here is my question.....
Does anyone know if there is a piece (clip/mechanism) that goes underneath the trapdoor and is then triggered by the swivel chair? Common sense and the engineering of the castle tell me there is suppossed to be a piece there, but I have never EVER seen this piece.
Also, the elevator...... I have the actual elevator, rope and even the bird statue........ but is there some other piece that is suppossed to hold the elevator at the 2nd floor. It seems to hold all by itself but I am just wondering.

Yes there is a piece, with a small tab that comes over the lip and holds up the trapdoor. The seat then swivels this piece and it moves away, allowing the trap door to swing freely.
As for the elevator, it simply stays up via friction, and has no specific pieces to hold it in place.
I can get pics up for you tomorrow if no one beats me to it.

Is this the piece? I found it in eBay. It's the only piece that looks new to me. I appreciate the help!

Glad you found the piece you needed. How much did you have to pay for it on eBay?

Mine is 100% complete. I can scan my cardboard cutouts and instruction sheet for if you like. Let me know.

I had to replace the one that came with mine and just used kite string which is a little thinner that the original. I will try to find out if the string was supplied by Mattel or not.

I used a black piece of thin rope but it had 'plasticy' feel to it. Not sure if it was the original though.

There IS a rope. It's kind of a silk or smooth type thread. It's light blue. I still have my original greyskull. I had to replace most of it over the yearsm but not the elevator assembly or large turret stand.
