Batman has probally more memrobilia and collectibles than any other hero. Here are what I think his top three collectibles are (not including the comics).
1. Batman Justice League of America Playset (Ideal) 1966:
Only three known mint complete sets known. Came with twenty 3" plastic figures which included Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc. This thing goes for 13 to 15k and is widely desired by all Batman collectors. The figures alone can command up to 100.00 plus bucks each. While the Wonder Woman figure is known for being the most delicate because she is holding an O ring above her head that is commonly broken off. I actually got offered 1 of the 3 known from an owner who wanted 13k for it but I turned it down after a few days because I would rather spend my dough on Hulk stuff. Held it in my hands and sniffed the box with a ton of drool running down my lips. No joke, this set rocks!!! The Batman Playset of this type is a smaller version of this set, selling for about 6 to 7k complete (which puts it in the top 5 of Batman pieces). I heard there are about 10 complete sets around.
2. Elastic Batman (Mego) 1979:
What can I say! One Minty one sells for over 15k in 2006 and a good conditioned one sells for 7.5k in 2008. Plus it is soooooooo rare and hard to find (especially in flawless shape) who can argue with those numbers.
3. Batman Utility Belt (Ideal) 1966:
After searching info on this item, there is no denying it's value and demand. They seem to be around in very good to mint conditions and continually selling between 6 and 8k solid. Who am I to argue with numbers like that?
Am I right? Or am I waaaaay off? I'm no supa-dupa Batman expert but I do know what goes on in the toy market with my connections. And I know that Batman has a bunch of other stuff (especially from the 60's) that are off the hook in value. But these three items gotta be tops. Does anyone else want to add to the list?
