Any of you hear about these yet? Dollar Tree has taken the semi-bold step of not only creating a toy line, but also a cartoon to promote it.
Granted it isn't exactly high-art, but neither were any of the glorious 80's toy commercials thinly veiled as cartoons. Its a pretty obvious rip off of Halo/Transformers/Paw Patrol, but not nearly as bad as you would think. And the toys are pretty decent too I've bought the entire first wave and the designs are good (particularly the bad guys), the quality is good (quite a bit better than their other action figures). Over all its seems like something with some potential, they're already planning a second series (which includes a vehicle) and all of it costs $1 each. Total I've spent to get the whole first wave was only $14, which is for 8 figures and 6 accessory packs. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next batch.

Very unusual to see something like this happening.

Yeah, has there been an instance of the retailer creating an IP complete with cartoon just to sell toys before?

I couldn't find 2 of the good guys. You can order the whole set of good guys, bad guys, or accessory packs from Dollar Tree's website.

I haven't been in a spot to throw a bunch of money around lately but I did splurge and bought all the figures and accessory packs. All not too bad for a buck a piece. When I bought them it was like the old days at something like a KB store for a fleeting moment. The Dollar Tree I bought them at used to be the location of the Hastings store I enjoyed going to that went under some time ago. Not all the former store is taken up by Dollar Tree. It's kind of sad, I peered in and there was still a sign up saying "thanks for shopping Hastings". The internet is mostly to blame I suppose.
