New to the forum, but I thought there might be some interest in a recent purchase of mine. I've not been able to find much info about these, so forgive me if anything I post is common knowledge
A complete set of "Treasures of Those Lost Temples, Warriors", mint on card. These are a branch of the Galaxy Warriors line which followed the Muscle Warriors pattern of non-possible solid waists. 5 of the characters being from Galaxy Warriors (Magnon, Baltard, Huk, Spikes, and Thor) and one being a unique head sculpt. Another thing that connects them to muscle warriors is them generally sharing a color scheme (Magon's body is white, Baltard is blue with a flesh toned head) The differences being that Thor's helmet is blue, and for reasons I cannot fathom Spikes has a pink face, belt, bracers, and boots. The weapons and shields follow the same patterns as Galaxy warriors, but are scaled down. All of these have swords (two different patterns) though I have seen a carded spikes with a Galaxy Warriors style ax. The chest harnesses are somewhat unique in that they copied the feather harness with at least 3 different emblems in the center (a sun, something that vaguely resembles runes, and a third one I won't ruin the surprise of) None of the chest harnesses on my 6 are fastened in the back, and I can't tell you if it was to save on manufacturing time or because they don't fit. I'm not inclined to open one up to find out.
As you're probably aware these guys are tiny, something in the 3.5" range. There packaging is tiny too, only 4 7/8" x 7.5" compared to the 7"x9 5/8" of Muscle Warriors. This makes them look like the Muscle Warriors' children when you have them standing next to the full sized version.
These were made in Hong Kong. I'm fairly certain the manufacturer was Tung Sing as there is a picture out there of one of their trade ads feature all 6 TOTLTW figures along side full size Muscle Warriors and Under World Warriors.
Now you would think that name would be the thing that really sticks out about these, but there is something a bit more noticeable about one of the chest harnesses
Why yes, the third pattern of chest harnesses does prominently display a swastika. This is one of those details that I find very endearing about knock offs. I would love to hear the story of how that came to be. While I am aware that in some eastern cultures it has a very different meaning I'm still pretty sure people in 1980's Hong Kong knew what WWII was.
As you can see the back of the card refers to them as "Galaxy Heros", which leads me to suspect that Tung Sing was also the manufacturer of some of the "Made in Hong Kong" Muscle Warrior pattern figures sold on Galaxy Hero cards, though I of course can't confirm it. One should also note that the item number on these is "3168", while Muscle Warriors is "3068" and Galaxy Heroine is "3268", which is decent evidence that those item numbers do actually mean something.
