We all know Gentle Giant's crazy success w/ the 12" scale vintage Star Wars Kenner figures. I proudly own a Boba Fett. At that scale they look fantastic. But now I'm looking at pre-SDCC news today and Gentle Giant is now moving into vintage 80s G.I. Joes!?!?! Mattel is doing "Giant" MOTU Figures?! I....I have no idea where I'm putting these but I MUST own 1 of each 80s toy line they do. I'd love to have the funds and room to actually collect lines but no way no how. Man, there must be SOME well to do Star Wars collector amassing the entire Jumbo line. I would die to see a full display of all of those. Anyway, I know the Joes will be done right considering how GG handled Star Wars. I am for sure getting a Jumbo Snake-Eyes on a giant vintage Joe cardback. However if this hits big and they go in order of release, I will be selling my Snake for a Destro and then selling a Destro for the cream of the crop....STORM SHADOW! Ohhhh yeah. Although honestly, it'll be hard giving up a Destro. I may splerge and keep both if I'm able. For Mattel, I REALLY hope they paid close attention to Gentle Giant. Their Giant figures need to be 12" scale and come on reopenable vintage cardbacks....and with a giant mini-comic! Otherwise, no dice. If Mattel hits it out of the park. I'm in for a Skeletor w/ a hopeful future upgrade to my fav Tri-Klops. I think if this continues I'd love to ultimately have a GIANT...... -Thundercats: Panthro -Super Powers: Joker -Real Ghostbusters: Egon -G1 Transformers: Soundwave w/ Ravage -Madballs: Skullface (lol ) -(this will never happen but...) M.A.S.K.: Condor -Giant pack of Garbage Pail Kids.....Giant PVC Smurf....a...ok I'm getting carried away now

Yeah if that's the final head sculpt it looks awful. Why change his expression and hair? www.he-man.org/collecting/toy.php?id=470The whole POINT of doing this is that you have the near exact vintage figure in a different scale. Looks like they didn't learn much from Gentle Giant. As for the packaging though, good stuff...maybe. I'm ok w/ no mini-comic but that package doesn't look like it was designed to be resealable. I mean GG's Kenner stuff isn't perfect either, but it works. If it's not resealable for display purposes, there's no way I'm spending $75 just for a giant loose Skeletor that I have no shelf to display it on.

I do like the packaging (but why 7back?!) and the missing "mini"comic is pretty meh for $75, which would turn into like ~$115-130 if I order it from the US (+ shipping +custom fees). Not worth it to me.

The jumbo figures don't bother me that they're getting made, but for me at least, I only have so much space in my home and I only have so much money. I'm doing good to be able to acquire non-jumbo versions of the figures I want.

Saw a nice closeup of the He-Man on card at SDCC. The thing looks to be sealed. Bah! Oh well. Money saved! lol
Now to pin my next jumbo hopes on Storm Shadow from GG. I really hope they don't make me wait super long for it. Considering they are testing the market with Grunt, Rock & Roll, Stalker and Zap as 4 of the 5....I'd wouldn't be surprised if this doesn't flop.
I mean come ON. Grunt and Zap?!
Who knows. Maybe there are plenty of Joe nuts with deep pockets to make it happen. lol

Yeeeep. This video confirms it for large MOTU: toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=23014The blisters are sealed and they have some crap excuse on why. Because then the package wouldn't look "vintage". Are you kidding me?! The GG Star Wars figure clamshells take nothing away from the vintage look of the figure being displayed on the old school cardback with the same dimensions of the bubble. Also the 8-back is wrong because they lost He-Man, Skeletor and Teela's watercolor over the years. So they subbed Battle Cat and Ram-Man. No idea if it was just for the show or if it'll ship that way. Just a mess. $75 for a collector figure that isn't collector friendly. Great job Mattel!

are the MOTU figures 12"? the stuff is really cool but I decided first thing with the star wars figures that I am not buying a single thing, because if I buy one I will want more and at $80-$100 a figure there is just no way. had I not decided long ago to stick to only one scale there is no way I would have a collection like I have.

Good idea to know not to test yourself like that. I feel the urge to buy more all the time, especially when they keep putting out new ones, but my bank account and free space put a stop to that urge real quick. lol As for MOTU. I don't think they are literally 12" since their dimensions are kinda off vs. most everything else. They do look gigantic compared to a regular figure though. I wouldn't be surprised if they were 12x the size of a normal fig.

well that's what I wondered, I assumed if they are 12" they would probably be really expensive because they are so thick. that would be a lot of plastic.
