Did anyone buy anything on Force Friday (Sept 4)?
Was really tempted to buy some of the figures since Target had a $10 off $50+ or $25 off $100+ coupon, but ended up just getting Target's exclusive BB-8 and the Lego Rey's Speeder.

Got myself a 6 inch Kylo Ren

I got a bunch of the basic 3.75" figures. Basically every trooper, Kylo and Poe. At this stage in my collecting, I need to cherry-pick just the sculpts/characters I think are the coolest. All that's left so far are Snowtrooper, Han/Luke/Leia, (a Jedi Master Luke!?! I hope!)...barring anything super-cool from the film we haven't seen yet, I think the only other 3.75" I'd love to see is a vac-metalized Phasma.
Got a 2nd Kylo to go on the wall carded. BTW, I emailed CGA and they said sliding cases for TFA coming mid-week maybe.
I have room for 2 more 6" figures and only the FO Stormtrooper stood out to me. Kylo just isn't cool enough of a design vs. previous big Sith like Maul and Vader. The mask is cool, the saber, but everything else is just bleh black. I was going to get a Black 6" of him until I learned about the Elite Series. 6" scale but all die-cast!? Ok, that last spot is going to an Elite FO Stormtrooper now. Waiting for him to get delivered.
Didn't realize AT ALL that Disney was going to put out so many exclusives like that. That's pretty f'd up since they are not everywhere. To keep those Elites and the electronic Kylo saber from retail just stinks.

Piss. SDCC exclusives are Old Ben with a Leia hologram on a table and unmasked Kylo Ren. I could not give a crap less for either of these. After last 2 waves being mostly TFA and a couple Rebels toon figs, I'm starting to doubt this line and get burnt out. I think all the classic stuff we got was farmboy Luke and the same lackluster Vader from Wave 1 but with a force lightning purple translucent head. Giz something interesting, Hasbro. I'd rather have PT figures than this stuff. SH Figuarts and MAFEX may be getting all my SW money if this doesn't change.

I am happy when sdcc exclusives are less than exciting since the convention items usually cost more . I would guess that Hasbro will also offer 6" Obi-Wan as a $20.00 figure for those that don't want the exclusive set. They did the same thing with Boba Fett. As far as other new stuff, I have been telling myself to give it more time. Hasbro could get back into making a bunch of well articulated 3.75" figures by the time the next movie comes out.

I"m in the minority of not givin' a crap, so you got your work cut out for ya. Lol. That's assuming Ben makes it into the regular 6" Black Series and gets scalped to hell and you'll get that piece for $35-50, otherwise the exclusive will just be like a $90 secondary market retail item you'll be happy to get at $75. Probs I'm in the minority, I prefer obscure aliens, bots, and armored characters as figures to any of the main human figs. Except ANH white robe Leia with the hair buns seems under-represented a tad. I kinda would rather pay more for Medicom and Bandai anyway in many cases. e2a: I don't know how Hasbro makes some of the stuff they do and totally planks on other shit. ML Nuke maybe one of the best 6-7" figs of the year, a total winner and a totally obscure character, and they do the hell out of army builders also , but they can't make Carrie Fisher look even remotely like Carrie FIsher. Not that they screwed up Ben, but he's an old guy in pajamas. Giz a decent Harrison Ford.

I know this is off topic but that Marvel Legends Nuke head swap is sick. I love that torn flesh revealing the cybernetic skull.

Looks like we're at least getting an ANH Leia next wave. The first pics are god awful though. Iirc the other ones are Darth Revan, some chick from Rebels, TFA Threepio, a snowtrooper, and an AT-AT driver. Not super enthused about anything but the army builders, personally. The AT-AT driver looks sweet, but they need to just fix the color on the cloth parts of the snowtrooper uniform. It's too dark beige/yellow from the pics that have surfaced. He also looks pretty decent though otherwise.

SDCC pics show we're also getting a Bespin Lando, Crimson Empire ERG (has sculpted armor under the robe), Tusken Raiders, and some chumps from the PT and Rebels. Qui-Gon Jinn and Hera if you're keeping score. They seem to have tweaked the Leia head since Celebration but she still more closely resembles Natalie from Facts of Life than Carrie Fisher.
Tusken Raider looks sweeeeeeeet.

I snagged ANH Luke awhile ago and I love it. Also got an Anakin at Ross for 9.99 2 months ago. Saw Kanan twice and passed both times.

I think all the Lukes look decent. The head always pretty much looks like Mark Hamill, although if you told me it was Roddy Piper I could see that too. Not a huge fan of how the soft goods tunic looks on the farmboy version. Might be one of those things that's better in hand.

I spied a new AT-ST with driver, 3.75" scale, at a Wal-Mart I was at last night. I presume this is a Wal-Mart exclusive, I had some interest but the $59.88 price tag was too much for me at the moment. If they still had layaway I could have made one of them disappear from stock but it comes down to if you don't have the money either let the item sit and walk away or whip out the credit card. Sad those are the only two options available to you if you don't have the $60 to drop right then and there on it.

I am still just waiting on the Tusken Raider. That's the only one I really want. I got the 6" AT-At driver--he's pretty decent, but not terribly exciting.
There is a Bandai plastic model kit figure coming soon of General Grievous. I'll take that seeing as Black Series doesn't seem likely to be getting to it soon.

Actually, I'm kinda amped for the upcoming Rey and her speeder set too. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the toys that have come out for TFA and onward, but the speeder is really sharp looking and I like that desert outfit on Rey, especially with the shemagh over her face is a nice touch. I love that net full of junk detail and her weapon looks quite cool as well. I'm strangely more excited for Rey than I am for Luke and his landspeeder. I'll wait till the price goes down though--the vehicles seem to come down in price dramatically after a few months.

The figs in the 40th anniversary wave are actually looking pretty sick. I still love the Tusken raider, but I might have to get the new Vader also. And they are finally re-releasing R2, which is great because he was selling for ridiculous prices. He's not the best version at this scale, but he is pretty good at the $20 price point and has a slew of little accessories and details like hatches that is one thing that the Black Series doesn't really do any more. The Jawa also looks kinda good but reviews mentioning the uselessness of the hands with the two guns he comes with kinda bums me out, although the glow in the dark eyes are a pretty nice touch and I think the texturing on the figure looks pretty cool.
e2a: While Rogue One was more or less a throwaway movie for me, the figures have looked good. MIght be interested in a K2SO.

I just purchased my first 6" black series Star Wars figure. A Fett for $50 and that was relatively cheap on eBay. This line is pretty scarce even in stores. I have a feeling they're being bought up and resold. I'm going to wait until the hype dies down to really start collecting this line but had to get Fett because he's usually the only character that stays expensive.
The 40th Anniversary wave would be fun to have either on card or loose with the display stand. But I'll probably just get the Vader.

Was that the plain one or the one that had Han Solo in carbonite? I'm not that crazy about Fett, but the other 6" figures of him like Figuarts and Revoltech honestly don't look any better to me for the price of them. I recently got the old 1/6 Sideshow figure that I've wanted for years and he's ok but even he has some flaws that leave me a bit cold.

It's the one without. It is pretty steep but not right now. I've been holding out for a couple months to pay something like $30 but it's not happening. Chinese knockoffs are going for $20.
It's true some of the 6 inch figures don't look right standing out of the package. Fett is one of them. For me the appeal is the scale of the figure. I don't want all of them but gotta have certain ones. Death trooper, Scarrif Troooer, Vader, and Cody to name a few.

Ouch! I got mine for about $30 and I thought that was a bit painful at the time. But you gotta have what you gotta have, I guess.
Commander Cody is one of my long standing faves. Everything about him looks good. Army builders and troopers in general are among some of my favorites.
None of the Vaders really looked good enough imho til this current wave. They've fixed a lot of the problems I've had with previous ones.
I am wrestling with the idea of getting the Mafex Phasma. The Hasbro one was pretty meh and basically was just sn upscaled TFA trooper and as such didn't have a feminine build. I also prefer the chrome look that is only available on the imports and I think the cape is fabtic with poseable underwire. I'm just wrestling with the price. Phasma is the Boba Fett of TFA. Wondering if she'll make a return appearance.

That is a nice Phasma. I got the impression they were trying to do a Boba Fett like appearance with her by just giving her a few seconds. She's another one I want from the Black Series 6" but not loose.

Been quite a while since I saw TFA but it seemed like they were implying they were gonna push her down a garbage chute and crush her in the trash compactor, though that seems pretty jacked up for the good guys in a Star Wars flick.
Having had the Black Series Phasma in hand, I'd say it just didn't do it for me. I remember just not liking the mannish build. Plus, the chrome looks great. I guess a lot of people dislike the vac metal, probably people who don't like how it looks when it gets play wear. I love the look on the Mafex figure with all the pitting and lived-in appearance of it, and it's not as if I'm going to take it in the sandbox and drop it off playground equipment like the toys I had as a kid so it doesn't concern me much.

Don't get me started on Brienne of Tarth I mean Captain Phasma. Going to have to see how this plays out. The more I think about it the more I might stick with OT characters. I'm happier when I collect for nostalgia. Good to hear about Vader.

I think she's probably the only one I'm really interested in aesthetically as far as the higher end figs go, at least from anything that isn't OT. I can't see dipping in to the new film figures as much, but I will grab the Rey with her scavenger speeder from the Black Series when and if the price drops significantly from the MSRP of $50. I'm probably totally gonna pass on the Rogue One figures. I haven't got any yet and I'm trying to be selective due to cost, space, and the fact that the Disney films are fine but they're not what I fell in love with.

I got the Vader today and I love it. You're paying for the stand too which is really cool, but I can't take Vader off the card to use it.

The stand was a nice throwback, and the retro cardbacks are cool for MOC collectors, but I prefer the regular black series packaging for the simple fact that I wanna take it out of the box and pose it and all that. I sorta wish they had done regular boxes for all the 40th anniversary figures. I've seen some in the regular boxes like Tusken Raider but I've only seen Vader carded without the stand. I don't really need the stand anyway, at least not enough to pay $15-20 more for it. In that respect, I might have to get some Space Walls as a backdrop at some point but they are kinda pricey for what they are.

And the Vader retail price is too rediculous to buy a second one to open. I got the fett today and you're right, much easier to take out. Back in my single days I would have bought two of each and opened one.
On another note, now that I have some in hand I really love the scale of these things!

I'll always love the old basic 3/75" figures, but I'm definitely with you on the scale. When it comes to modern figures, the 6" and 7" scale figures have so much more detail on them than the smaller ones.
I have sold some of my Black Series stuff off over the years, but the ones I have left I mostly love. Bossk is one of my favorites in any scale and Greedo is also surprisingly good. Biker scouts are pretty badass--wish I had picked up a couple more back when you could easily find them for $20-25. And actually, if I think about it, most of the ones I did sell off were extra army builders, not many just flat out disappointed me... maybe the TFA flametrooper cuz he had love handles. I got rid of one of the earlier Phase 1 clone troopers because I have whatever the one with burgundy accents is also and didn't really like the PT enough to devote space to more than a handful of figures. Then I got rid of some Guavian enforcers because the interest in having TFA stuff waned. The Guavians looked cool as hell though and, if anything, articulation was just a bit limited because of some things on the outfit. Boussh I have and just wish they'd done some weathering on her costume because it looks a bit flat. And then IG-88 is almost undeservedly cool, but the ankle joints are so loose and weak and he's so top-heavy that he tends to flop over a lot.
I actually prefer the Bandai model kits to a few of them though, stormies in particular. They have a lot better range of motion and a better selection of hands and accessories at generally less than the price you can usually find for the legit Hasbro figures. Also, the armor looks a bit better to me than the Hasbro PVC because it has just the right amount of glossiness to it. Plus you get to put them together, so there's that.

Oh man. Never heard of the Bandai kits until now. Loving the Sandtroopers.
Back on topic, I picked up a Jango and a Death Trooper. What's with Hasbro Toy Shop sending figures in mangled packages? That was disappointing.
I would get a Bossk but I'd have to pay anywhere between $40 to $90 for him on ebay!
Saw the new tank driver, whatever he's called, at Target. About 20 of them. I passed on it and apparently so is everyone else. I was tempted but I think only because he is a trooper. But I have no nostalgic connection to him and I know I'd end up selling him in one of my downsize phases. That didn't stop me from getting the Death Trooper. He's just too bad ass looking.
