this may be an odd question, but has anyone ever found a cool toy just lying on the ground or in someone's trash. Like if your neighbor was throwing out boxes of stuff and you walked by and saw the lid open & there was an action figure. Example, one time I was taking a walk around my neighborhood and right there, in the street, was a battle beast pirate lion, great condition. that was the first battle beast I never bought and I still have it today on my shelf, 15 years after I found it.

No, but I find plenty of cool stuff in people's houses when they're at work.

That's the way to go. I'm gonna start my daily ventures with a crowbar.

Haven't come across anything being thrown out or lying around that I can remember, though once I was at a Cash Convertors and a guy was throwing out a box of GI Joe weapons and accessories. He chucked the box, I picked them up and took them home.
Also have gotten various loose figures from my niece's huge toy pile a few times. When I go over to visit, I usually bring her a few new toys and ask if she has any figures she doesn't want lying around. A few times she's rummaged through her pile and given me a few handfulls. She's got waaaaay to much stuff anyways - it looks like a dragon hoard in the corner of their kitchen.

We don't have garbage pick up where I live, so we need to take our trash to the dump/recycle center. All of the trash gets put into a large compactor. One time when I was there I saved a Fisher Price Garage before it was crushed. I'm still looking for the large bin of Megos.

Just the figs she doesn't play with anymore, swap em for Polly Pockets and stuff she really likes. Seriously you guys should see her pile of toys (she's got rooms full), my brother totally spoils her.

About 10 years ago I stopped at a garage sale in the east end of Louisville, the rich area, as I was doing some work there that day. While browsing I came across a large black garbage bag with what looked to be some Star Wars logos peeking through...I looked and to my amazement the bag contained 46 Star Wars POTF carded figures!! 39 of the figs were C-3PO with removable limbs and the rest were B-Wing Pilots...and one more thing, the people had taken what looked to be a knife and SCRATCHED the yard sale price for each figure directly into the card.. $1.00. Other than that the figs were in great shape aside from the dented bubble here and there. I of course bought them all, and by the next weekend I was at the Stewart Promotions flea market selling and trading with my new currency. I really beefed up my collection by trading most of the figs and sold the others, I would say 8-10 of them for $30 each. I still think of that day, finding those figures, as a collectors dream come true...and I still stop at yard sales.

Very nice find Secret Wars! People do the stupidest things, it would take more time and energy to carve a price onto each figure than just putting 1 sticker on the bag saying $1 each??

Hell, write on the damn card . That would take less effort. The wax pen is a defiler of some of the nicest cards. It crosses all states and countries too it would seem .
