Here's a rant, for no apparent reason. I'm really starting to get sick of all this figures with tons of weapons & accessories that a.) I'll never find them all b.) if my figure has only two hands and no belt how the hell am I suppose to display him in all his glory? Which lines do you guys & gals think have two many accessories for decent displaying purposes? My top 2 are G.I. Joes & TMNT. No belt for rocksteady to sheath his knife. That's just worng!
P.S. If this topic has been covered, ignore me. I would.

GRRR! im a huge long time hater of figures with too many things. i can not stand when a figure comes with more stuff than it can carry! i have bags full of extra weapons now, and have no idea who they go with. and half of my figures i display without their accessories anyway because i worry they will fall and get lost. i dont want anything past maybe one nice big well held weapon.and maybe a shiled or backpack.thats it!

I really dont mind when the accessories are well done or are important to the character, for example all of the ninja weapons from GI JOE fit with the characters well in that a ninja would have access to different weapons. What I dont like is when they all come with a pile of crap, like the Star Trek figures by playmates, all of the accessories were in different colors and all one color, what a waste of time.

Arrrgh! I'm So with you! I use rubber bands to make belts for them sometimes. One that REALLY bugs me is the GI Joe Night Creeper. He comes with a sword sheath that plugs into his back, and a backpack! *facepalm* I did buy a Neo Viper who had a bunch of guns, so now I just but loose cheap Neo's and give the guns to them. I suppose if you're not a completist, it's a good thing. You could divvy up weapons among figures. Like TMNT-then they wouldn't all have the same weapons, at least.

I have no problem collecting all the weapons, but I wish I could display them all in a nice way.

I agree!!!! Preach on!!! Too Many weapons does suck!! I like to display and often the extra weapons that i can't put on the figures get misplaced because as many of you know this hobby takes up ALOT of space. I am constantly organizing weapons, lines, parts etc. and when digging out the lines you pack away becuase you don't find them that often Stuff gets moved around, thus losing the weapons!!!! It makes me wanna build a row of little lockers for my joes accessories!!! (crazy, toys in the attic, he is crazy, truly gone fishing)

I really don`t like stupid weapons though. The new animated figures have add on weapons so do clone wars and they suck

You would think the manufacturer would look at the blueprints a bit better. Instead we get.
"Ok Tony what do we have?" "Well we have (insert figure line here) new series about to launch soon." "Lets have a look then" Mulls over the paperwork. "Well i see this figure has two hands and only two weapons, it needs a third maybe fourth weapon. Maybe one of them could be spring loaded. Also if you could put in a portion of a diorama so the fans would have to buy them ALL to make the diorama that would also be a nice touch. In fact you could also put in a piece of an extra figure then they have to collect the whole set to get the extra figure too. Ooh ooh ooh we could also put it into a nice package with an anniversary sticker or a numbered sticker then they would never even open it in the first place." "You're a genius Boss!"

Then they have a follow up thought. " Lets make some weapons so small that they will be lost by everyone and then no bugger will ever find them again"

"Oh and as an added bonus we will paint at least 25% a different design or colour, call it a variant then people will go nuts trying to get them. Next year we will release the variant as a regular figure within the new series and we will say it was because of demand." "Boss you are so smart!" "I try to be" "Anything else Boss?" "Yeah some of those stickers i mentioned before." "Yes Boss" "Print Collector's Edition onto some of them just as a way to wind up the collectors who view ALL figures as collectible and not just the ones we say are." "I'm on it Boss."

Back in 2006, along with a big lot of MOTU figures, I bought a bare, loose Rio-Blast figure for 1$. Because he looked so pityful with all his holes all over his body, I started to buy a few of his weapons. First, I found his chest gun on Ebay. It was 4,95$, with a shipping price of 3,95. For a total of 8,90$. Then, I was lucky enough to find both his hand guns, also on Ebay. I got them for 5$. The shipping was 2,95$. For a total of 7,95$. In last October, I found his thigh guns on Ebay. 7$ was the price. 4,95$ was for the shipping. I got them for a total of 11,95$.
Now, let's recapitulate: 1$ for the figure+ 8,90$ for the chest+ 7,95$ for the hand guns+ 11,95$ for thighs= 29,80$. So, the accessories for my 1$ figure costed me 28,90$. And I still don't have the back pack that goes with it.
Rio-Blast: the best (worst?) example of a figure that has WAY too many acessories.

At least Rio-blast can hold all his accessories at once however. As a kid, and in a practical sense, you can never have too many accessories. Makes up for all that'd be lost or broken. It's only a hassle in a collector display context.
What gets me are impractical accessories, eg. Odin from the Thor movie line - has a retarded 'opening sword & shield' which are too weighted for his arms to hold up straight.
I can understand providing kids with a gimmick, except when it's annoyingly impractical.

I could do it, but poor Skitzo couldn't see anymore where he was going!

I gotta be honest, I love me a bunch of accessories. I mean, look at those old Gi Joe figures from the 60's, they had a TON of stuff that came with them. My only problem is with the vintage AD&D line, the helmet for Northlord and Ogre King doesn't stay on at all, and it's a b*tch to get some of them to hold their shield, and/or their weapons...The shiled shooters are much better at holding their weapons (and obviously the shields since they lock on). Like Keleks staff?? That is a pain to get in his hand.

I KNOW! THEY GOTA GO BACK TO THE SIMPLE FIGURE WITH 1 OR 2 WEAPONS OR ACCESSORIES

I like simple, so 1 or 2 accessories are enough for me. I do wish companies would actually play-test their designs though. There's nothing wrong with a lot of accessories, but how about making the toys so they can actually hold and use them? I would really like to comment on the reasons behind why companies make decisions like this (and why we accept them), but I will restrain myself.
Currently I have a fairly uncommon moc figure that has 5 (gasp) accessories and they're all nice and well-designed. It is so tempting to open it up just for the accessories. I'm sure I will one of these days, I usually do.

While I was setting up my GI joes today I was just thinking about this. They had WAY to many accessories. Most of which can't be displayed with the figure at one time.
