These are my big interest right now. Shogun Warriors, Captain Harlock, Kamen Rider, Astro Boy. I love a lot of these modern monster toys by companies like Super7, but they are too much cash.
What are some other cool vintage Japanese monster toys?

if you are into the toho style characters, some good modern companies are marmit & m1go. still a tad higher priced, but nothing compared to stuff like super7, gargamel, and other "designer" kaiju companies. and, of course, bandai does a lot of stuff for super sentai style titles like this (i.e., kikaida, kikaider, ultraman, barom-1, akumaizer 3, etc). as for vintage, its still spendy. i collect a lot of the modern stuff, but haven't forked much out along the lines of vintage. would love to collect some bullmark originals, but just can't bring myself to drop that kind of cash! vintage bandai, popy, takatoku are all good places to start. a good forum to read up on stuff along these lines would be www.skullbrain.org

there is a ton out there, both old and new. with the older stuff, it might be easier to start picking up a few books that catalog some stuff thats out there so you can focus down before throwing big money. the yuji nishamura (guy who runs M1Go) book is pretty great if you can find a copy. There is also this great book on old Kamen Rider toys, pops up once in awhile on Ebay. Old vinyl toys tend to be pretty expensive, but if you're patient you can find good deals here and there... Attachments:

There is also this great book on jumbo machinders, from the saito collection. great reference for the jumbos as well as the giant-sized vinyl figures of the villains. (not sure how to put three attachments in one post...) Attachments:

M1Go knows kaiju (<--picture a "bo knows baseball" style add with yuji nishamura holding a freshly painting goji).
