Just bought my first Headmasters ever and am really impressed. I got Brainstorm, Hardhead, and Apeface. Apeface, in particular, is rocking my world. He's exceptionally cool looking in each mode. Snapdragon has already been ordered and is on the way, as well.
Fort Max aside, are there any other Headmasters you guys would recommend? I'm even considering Scorpanok, but I don't know if it's worth the price.

The other thing is, depending on how insane the prices you might want to pay are; you might want to look at the Japanese Headmaster partner figures which were produced. Here's a link to their info pages on TFU.info. Gotta warn you though, they can go for as high as $500 each though: tfwiki.net/wiki/Headmaster_Warrior

I've been following that new Headrobots project being put out by a third party company. They're producing new headmasters to work with the old G1 robots. www.bigbadtoystore.com is selling their first two releases. I already pre-ordered the new Hardhead kit.

I'm honestly not sure where I stand with those. The big problem with their custom Duros figure is that it tries to be too many things at once and suffers as a result IMHO.

There's also a counterfeit version of the Japanese exclusive headmaster heads that can be had for around $100 for the set.
Scorponok is WELL worth the price, easily one of the coolest transformers made. As for the rest of the headmasters, they're all pretty equal. Not sure the autobot headmaster jr. cars are worth the premium because of the tiny guns, though. If you want specific names, Weirdwolf and Squeezeplay are both nice.
Brave Maximus is a slightly more affordable alternative to Fortress Maximus, even though he's a Japanese import. Just watch out for the slightly inferior (though also slightly cheaper) Korean version.
Incidentally, If you have a Fortess Maximus body with no head, Energon Megabolt was secretly designed to be used as a head for Brave Maximus, and thus will also work with Fortress Maximus (you just remove the insect legs). In the Japanese storyline, Megabolt was after Brave Maximus' body. IIRC, he was a herald of Unicron or something and they saw only Brave Max as a true threat. This storyline was obviously omitted from the American cartoon, since Brave Max wasn't marketed in the U.S. due to toy laws (stupid 4 ft drop rule... grrr!)
Finally, three headmasters you probably have NOT seen mentioned anywhere: Energon Omega Supreme and Omega Sentinel. Armada Sideways (with TWO heads, Rook and Crosswise)

I say definatly highbrow (what could be better then a twin bladed helicopter?) Also the headmaster jrs are pretty good too (especially the autobot ones the decpticon ones are a bit to kibbly)

I have a complete Scorponok, and I enjoyed it as a kid, and thinks it looks good on display now.
I also had Nightbeat as a kid. Didn't care for him.
