I'm a LONG time original crew Trek fan. I'm 37 and I've been a fan for about 32 years. I haven't decided whether I'll see the new film but I will probably shy away from the toys. If that 3 3/4" line was based on the original show, I would be climbing all over it. I would be chomping at the bit to get my grubby little hands on them, if they were ;D. I've been a fan for so long, it's hard for me to keep an open mind about this new movie.

why do the 6 inch figures look like they are wearing chain mail uniforms? I might pick up a couple of the figures but I am not holding my breath on this being a good movie after I saw the trailer. I really wish playmates had stuck to the 4.5 inch figures that they made in the 90's for scale so they would fit in with my collection of those.

This kinda goes along with what I was thinking while at work today. I may at least get the 3 3/4" figures because the way I figure it if the movie tanks then the toys may have a very abbreviated shelf life which could make them at least hard to find in the future. It may not make them valuable and it would depend on whether Playmates does a Hasbro and floods the shelves with product or not.

I just saw the trailer and I agree with the martigan. I read an interview with J.J. Abrams in which he said this film wasn't being made for Trek fans but for fans of movies and I guess he wasn't joking. This film doesn't appear, at least from the trailer, to really have much to actually do with Trek but more for a "for the masses" reconditioning of Trek. The trailer almost makes me want to see it more now, because I think I'll get a few laughs out of this movie pretending to be a Star Trek movie !

These toys look fantastic, but my favorite (and only) Star Trek toys are the Micromachines collections. Not only are the fantastic miniatures, but they are extremely scarce and sought after in some cases.
The Micro Machines are my preferred Star Trek toys reference, but I wouldn't mind seeing a collection put together ranging from vintage to the modern Galoob stuff.

I was browsing online toy vendors and I happened to notice that Diamond is not only putting out repros of the original Mego figures, they are even putting out a repro of the original fold out bridge playset for the figures! What's next, a new Mission To Gamma Hydra playset ?

Now that Playmates put up the website for these figures where you can see them fully packaged with all of thh Bridge accesories...they are become harder and harder to resist.

The whole idea of figures coming with sections of a play set is the most brilliant idea for toys in the last 20 years. After collecting all the figures, you're rewarded with an awesome play set to display them in! I'm hoping this trend continues, Galactica Actual anyone?

In deed this bridge set look terrific.
My favorite Star Trek figs are still the movie and TOS from Playmate in the 1990's. Lots of character and accessories, and big hard plastic figure that feel like toys. As much as I like the more collector orientend-like line, many use a lot of soft rubber to "look real", but I much prefer hard, solid, Tonka strong toys!
As for TNG, the First contact libe by Playmate was also pretty neat.

I just saw in person the new 3 3/4" and 6" figures for the first time today at Target. Ugh. I'll be taking a pass. The best piece is probably the light and sound Enterprise. The figures remind me of what Galoob did with TNG. The 3 3/4" figures make Hasbro's Indiana Jones figures look better in my opinion.

Just saw the 3 3/4 and 6 inch figures at a canadian walmart, on monday and checked again on friday. It didn't look like they sold any, doesn't even look like they were even touched - all nicely stocked on an endcap. I didn't even see any of those bonus playset pieces included with the figures.

Got all of the 3 3/4 inch figures this weekend and a few 6 inchers. I really didn't think I think I would like them as much as I do, but they are super fun!
Got the playsets too.
I deceided to matte the vinyl floor onto foam core and glue the bridge pieces down. It makes it much more fun to display.

Just started the collection from my local Toys R Us store. This is my first line of 'modern' action figures as I'm mainly a collector of Mego / Mattel / Kenner3 3/4" vintage figures but being a Star Trek fan they were too tempting to resist. My first thoughts are that they are great fun - couldn't keep them in their bubbles so have displayed them loose on my shelf next to my mego 3 3/4" figures. I am very tempted to purchase the bridge next before completing the collection (only going to get the 3.75"figures). Slight problem with Uhura (although it could be a one-off). I have tried to put her belt on but it will not fit - it is moulded too small and will not go on the figure. Anyone else had this problem? The two Spock figures are great but I'm not that excited by Pike or McCoy but will still get them. Haven't seen the movie myself yet - not released in the UK until tomorrow. Still love my mego ST Motion Picture figures but the detail on these new playmates is pretty good. The figures have been released by Vivid Imagination - is this UK only? They have stuck their labels over the card and added extra tape to secure the figure. Flipper

I believe the figures are 5 bucks each till the end of the week at TRU. I got 4 of them but really wasn't that impressed with the detailing. I don't think this line will make much money really cause almost every figure is in the same mold.

I ordered the entire movie range for myself. At first glance I don't think they are anything close to the quality of the 4.5" figures from the 90s (which I love) though. The bridge and transporter playsets don't like anything like the movie at all...

I'm pretty much a life long Trek fan but I have no plans to see the new movie or collect any of the toys from it. However, the new movie seems to have some benefits for people like me who just like the original. I was at a Toys R Us last night and for the first time in years I saw items based on the original crew such as 7 inch DST figures and bobbleheads. If this movie wasn't out and making money, TRU wouldn't touch the stuff so I suppose that's a positive. Also, I witnessed a sort of bizarre moment where a woman was pushing her son around in a cart and he was looking for the Star TREK stuff, wanting nothing to do with the Star WARS stuff.

The Scotty figure that came with my Transporter Playset was so badly painted it looks like a KO! lol But the transporting gimmick is fun!

Does anyone know about the 2nd wave of Star Trek figures from Playmates? I know the line flopped, and I passed on it, but I would love to get those two creatures that chased Kirk on the ice planet. They were also going to make that little alien dude that was hanging out with Scotty, it bums me out b/c all the stuff I just mentioned looked cooler than all the wave 1 stuff. Has the line been canceled? Were they produced? I checked ebay with no luck. Anyone?

They were going to be Entertainmentearth.com exclusives, then they got cancelled. I'm upset about it because my brother collects these and it seems so natural for Star Trek to have an ongoing 3 3/4 line as grand as Star Wars. The 8" scale Borg wave has been cancelled also. Too bad, i'm sure these would have sold better than previous waves by far. Here is the story... blog.entertainmentearth.com/2009/10/star-trek-movie-figures-2-now-theyre.html

I recently bought a lot of various different figures and ended up with two of these MOC. I knew they didn't sell well, which is why I dreaded taking them, but I figured I'd just sell them cheap.
Today, I sold stuff at a Flea Market. I was horrified by the sheer amount of these things I saw, all MOC. It seems like every other vendor had a table or box full. I'm going to have nightmares about them tonight.
I got lucky and sold both for $10. I was amazed and happy somebody bought them (the guy that did had a bag full).
So uh, yeah...just thought I'd share this.
I have like a phobia of these and TMNT now.
