Just saw at Traget that they re-issues the first run of TMNT from 1988. The packaging looks exactly the same and so do the figs & accessories.

I saw those, too. They look awesome! Luckily, right before I had just acquired the originals.

Oh man i hope they look different from the originals like different color plastic. Those were my thoughts exactly, but no such luck. The vintage TMNT stuff has been languishing for some time now, which is a shame. I only see these reissues and putting the final nail in the coffin of the investment-collectability of the original figs. The original stuff has so much charm though.

From what I can see, they look to dead set identical to the originals in every way. It's like they had some excess stock from the 80s and just put new cards on them... As big TMNT fan, I gotta say I'm disappointed. I mean the names are simply stuck on the bubble, the card backs have all the same artwork - where is the love or 'Shell-ebration' that could have been put into such a release? I honestly thought they were knock off the first time I saw them! I'm more excited about the new figures coming out that almost seem to be a hybrid of the NECA stuff with Playmates influences. i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=view&album=Playmates%2F25th_Anniversary_TMNT&pic=25th_Turtles.jpg&dispsize=600&start=0At least they bring something fresh to the table!

Been seeing these since last year: almost exact re-releases of the classic TMNT toyline. The back of the card and some additions inside the packaging seem to be the only differences from the outside.
My question is are the figures, when opened, updated as far as date? For example, will a re-release of a 1990 figure say "1990" on it or have new branding? The reason I ask is I'm wondering how much value original TMNTs are losing over this. If anyone knows, thanks.
