For you vintage gamers out there,I have a question for you. Has anybody ever heard of the Odyssey or Odyssey 2 game system by Magnavox? I was at a thrift store this morning and as I was browsing I came across a boxed video game. Inside was an Atari-type cartridge game that combined with a board game. The game was designed for a game system called Odyssey 2 by Magnavox and the game was called The Quest Of The Rings or something similiar. There was a 1981 copyright year on the outside of the box. As I looked through the instructions to see if the game was complete with all its playing pieces,I gathered there must have been an Odyssey 1 game system and when that was mentioned,it was accompanied by a 1978 copyright year. If it had only been a dollar I probably would have bought it but it wasn't complete and I figured the game had a very good chance of being totally obselete as I'm not sure how many of these Odyssey game systems are still out there in the secondary market place.

I did a search on ebay and got a few hits. Since the thrift store wanted $5 for the game and since it was incomplete,it looks like I did the right thing by letting it lay.

Yep, I have an Odyssey 2 system and a bunch of games. If I remember correctly you can get most of them pretty cheap on Ebay, even some of the cooler RPG type games with all the extra stuff.

Didn't Magnavox also take over making 3DO's after Goldstar?
