Way back in the day,I remember I had this toy rocket that came with two mono-colored astronauts. If you know my age and see my action figure collection,it becomes obvious that I'm pretty much a nostalgia-type collector. Anyhow,I started feeling nostalgic about this toy rocket a few years back, but I had no idea of what information to use when searching for one, such as on ebay or whatever. Well,I went to the Kansas Cosmosphere today and they have a fairly new display of science fiction type toy items, such as Star Wars figures,a model of The USS Enterprise,a Planet Of The Apes lunch box, etc. Right smack dab in the middle of one of the displays was a packaged example of that darn toy rocket! So,I wrote down the name of it and the manufacturer. Now,maybe I can find one. I also saw two still packaged figures from The Outer Space Men by Colorforms. I think those go for $200-$300 a piece. In the gift shop, they had some interesting astronaut figures that were 5" scale, plus a lunar rover vehicle. The only problem was the figures were a tad pricey at $12 a piece.

Well, here is a pic of it. That's about all I found online. Nobody has one on ebay,at least searching by title and manufacturer. That doesn't make me feel any better about tracking one down. A small website about space toys said it was first put out in 1963 and was in release through some time in the 1970s.

Cool rocket, Sockoda, just add "Apollo Moon Rocket" as a favorite search on Ebay and it should eventually come up one day.

That's not a bad idea. I typed in the word "rocket" on ebay, and 28 pages later, nothing. A long term search will probably be in order. I just don't know whether the thing is so common that it's almost worthless since it was in release for at least 10 years or if it's super rare and would cost me out the nose to get one.

I used to have one of those, I LOVED it! Now, I'll never find one.

I just won one of these last night on ebay. It came to $22.27(ouch)but I won it. I had been looking since I posted about it in July. I happened to do a different search than I normally do and I happened upon the auction for it that was down to 15 minutes. In the closing seconds I had some sweat beads going down my forehead and I was crossing my fingers, but my bid held up.

Here it is amongst my collection. There are one or two variations of the rocket and sometimes the two astronauts are red. The package had a TRU sticker on it for $1.78. Those were the days.

That is so sweet. I don't remember mine having astronauts or the Apollo sticker. Thanks fer sharing! Glad to do it. When I first opened it, I kept on firing the rocket part off like a kid with a new toy and my wife just kept looking at me with pity on her face . Unlike the one in the photo further above I got off of the space toys website, mine doesn't have the little US flag on top.

That should be an easy fix, though. Easier than finding a silver "Apollo" sticker!

My wife just returned from a trip to Baltimore and brought me a very similar (but different) rocket with two larger hard plastic astronauts. She got it at some museum gift shop. The first thing I thought of was this thread!
