Around the time of the MotU 200X toyline...I saw what I assume were generic fantasy toys hoping to cash in on any popularity the new He-Man line might have had. They were called Darkness Warriors. They were small little guys about three inches tall or less with limited articulation. They came in sets with weapons, "pets", and other props or environment elements (like brick walls). They came carded and they're were six sets if I remember correctly. I only ever saw and had three of these sets. I never saw them anywhere except Wal-Mart! Yep...not some dollar store or pharmacy, but big retailer Wally World...around Christmas time years back. They were up by the registers and magazines and came in PDQs. The sets were carded, but online on eBay (as I type), I saw one in a weird tube display. I sadly no longer have them or I'd show pics...I had an armored skull warrior, a winged skull demon, and a wizard that seemed to be a bootleg of an Imaginext toy. They also used some of the small Skeleton Warriors dragon companions in the sets. When I bought these, they had full PDQs with lots in stock, but only the three sets were there. On the package were six (I think). One featured a small scale Ram-Man ripoff with matching colors to the original! At any rate...I'm feeling nostalgic for these. I'm not looking to track these down, I just wanna see if anyone has these and if they can post pics...also, I just wanna know if all sets shown on the packaging existed or not.

Yeah...all 6 carded sets were made. There are also a couple boxed playsets too.

i remember these guys but they were just under my scale. i did buy the skeletal face guy with wings though to do a ghost rider custom. but then super hero showdown came out and made him.

The boxed sets are pretty cool for what they are. Id love if they had been more blatant about ripping off MOTU though. We need more KO MOTU heh.

Wow, years later and I found these again at a dollar store! I actually got 'em before X-Mas...the large-carded version of the packaging...a full set for six bucks...crappy, yet satisfying!

Here we go (seems the other photos are gone!): These are the loose figures...pretty much just came on a large card backer with a form-fitting blister around the figures and accessories. Sorry, I don't have an in-package photo ( I was on the road when I bought these and didn't feel like saving garbage). The figures are about three inches with minimal articulation mainly in the shoulders and waists. They are admittedly cheap in quality but sturdy enough to not fall apart. Capes, wings, etc. are all removeable. It's too bad they're aren't any other toy lines similar to these that they can "go with"...*sigh*....

Here's a shot of all the accessories: I honestly can't remember what came with whom...sorry! If you get the set, you end up with just about two of everything (some in different colors). I'm not sure if they're are any variations. They look a little drab, but if you are handy with a paintbrush these babies can really come to life...maybe someday, if I have time......hmmm.... Anyway, you end up with some neat stuff...weapons, props, even some environments and pets! The skeletal dragons are total Skeleton Warrior ripoffs! I'm not sure if any other pieces in this line are based off of or ripped off from other toy lines...looks like something might hook up to those gold wall sections due to the mysterious slots in the front. The little tan winged imps hook onto the tan cages...lots of neat details in these!

It's too bad they're aren't any other toy lines similar to these that they can "go with"...*sigh*.... That's not entirely true... I'd wager these in particular were made to ride the coattails of Fisher-Price's Imaginext line, which also had (among others) a castle/fantasy line. Scale wise, it makes the most sense. Around that time there was another dollar store type line that used the exact same scale and some Chap Mei sculpt weaponry. These were even closer to what Imaginext was doing, and also had nifty removable helmets. They had no name, but this is what they looked like.

Ooh, crap! I think I do remember seeing those at a Big Lots or something...did they come in a large set with a castle?
