I know of 2-3 people who have the other Sun-Man characters. Has anyone else scored any? I tried posting ads, but no luck to date.

There were no vehicles or playsets with the Sun Man line, just the figures which are seemingly getting harderd and harder to find. Trying to track down a few careded figures for my collection, but coming up empty handed more often than not.

Hi, I have recently bought a large lot of figures from someone locally and this figure came in the lot. He has no markings on him so I have no idea what toyline he is from. Anyone know anything about him? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

That's Pighead from Sun-Man. I don't think I've ever seen a version without colored tusks. Nice find!

Cool! I know nothing about that toyline, are the figures highly sought after or anything? Also what would a current value be for this guy out of curiosity?

How did you know the sheild and mace came with that particular figure?

Im leaning more towards severe paint loss to the face and tusks, rather than this being a different version of Pig Head. Thoughts anyone?

There's no remnant or anything that would suggest paint loss on the tusks, the rest of the paint on the figure is in very good condition. Also does any one have a picture or link to a picture of the bandolier that was mentioned?

The nostrils are faded also, and yeah, all the pink paint.

I dont know when it comes to this line. Id believe his tusks weren't painted. there is already another solid legit variation of Pig head.. Why couldn't some just have not been painted.

Its really hard to tell regarding the tusks. Looking at my loose Pig Head it looks like it could be major play wear on the white tusks that it could have been all chipped off. Cant you see a kid taking a blade to the tusks and taking it all off making it green? The eyes also appear to be missing most the red in the center of his eyes, along with the nostrils, which could suggest significant play and paint wear.
Does the right tusk look different to anyone else? Is almost looks like there is only one tusk on the right side, unless its just the angle?
Ive heard there is a variant, but I thought the variant was the body of Pig Head rather than the head. Really have no idea. Can you post another pic with a different angle?
Cool figure either way and I want it-like most on here Im sure....

Yeah, you never know...some cheap-o version maybe. Possibly even some kinda production error? I guess if a few more of these pop up, we might be able to consider it some kinda variation or whatever. May not matter, but the paint on the side of his helmet looks weird. Maybe someone even "did something" to the original figure and tried to repaint it...but that theory may be going out on a limb.

There's a pretty interesting story behind Olmec Toys, the company that produced the Sunman line. I won't post the link to the article here because it has some political tangents and God knows we all get enough of that without dragging it into our hobbies! But it's out there and makes for a good read if you want to know a bit more about how this line came to be.

I seem to remember the lady that started it went into hiding because she owed the IRS over a million in taxes, or something along those lines. Definitely an interesting story to read.

Mmm-Hmm. The story starts off really cool; A young boy tells his Mom he can't be a super hero because none of his action figures "Look like me", so the Mom starts her own toy company and Sun-Man is born, with the G.I. Joe-like Bronze Bombers soon to follow. That's where things get really interesting, and ultimately take a sad turn.
Sun-Man looks like a very cool line (I'm a sucker for knock-off lines), but ebay searches turn up very few hits.

Two years ago, I saw a variant of Pig Head in a private collection: the difference was the spiked armor.
Unfortunately, the owner did not answered my private messages...
Does anyone here has pictures of this variant ?

Ok, these guys are just awesome. I looked up the link shuptrine put up (great site btw!) and this line is just brilliant(no pun intended). If I ever found one of these there would be no way I would ever part with it. I've never seen a line with such a great backstory/purpose. As far as the tusks of pig-head there my personal guess would be chewing by a young person. I had a few toys that felt especially good to chew on and invariably lost some paint in the process. I doubt scraping or other mechanical means though since the surface still seems to have that powdered finish. I also don't think playwear is likely since the rest of the body seems pretty good, unless of course as someone else suggested, it had been touched up at some point, neglecting the tusks.

I own this figure now and after taking a good look at him it appears his tusks were never painted. There are light red tips on the end of each tusk, but no signs of picking, scraping, or chewing off of the white as typically seen with Pig Head. The pink on his boots, wrists, and helmet horns is also a lighter pink compared to other versions. Moreover, there isn't any red on his eyes or nostrils and it appears this was the way he was made. So strange. Lastly, there are no country of origin or Olmec markings on the back belt and body nor on his spiked bandolier as you'd normally see on other versions of Pig Head. Anyone ever seen another version like this?

I actually had one like this years ago. I looked for pics (this was before boards) but couldnt find any. The tusks were painted white (like the normal one) but the pink was light and faded like the one you have. My guess is its a production error and not necessarily a true "variant". I've seen some SunMen (early releases) that have oddly faded paint apps as well. I'm guessing it may have been a pigment problem in the paints. I also once saw a SunMan with unprinted hair. Again, my best guess is/was a production error. Regardless, it's a cool version.

since we are talking PigHead variants, here's the final release Pighead. if anyone has a J Hook SunMan you know that he has this same body type. Its the Sparkle Toys body that was used in both DotP and Wrestlers of the World. heres a pic of the J-hooker thanks to onlne toy show. If you look on the cardback, you can see a pic of this PigHead version, albeit a tiny one. www.onlinetoyshow.com/figures_Detail.php?Figure_Id=236note the size difference.

joeybones, that figure is wild man. Anyone else currently watchin that sun man lot? Holy crap it's going for a pretty penny. Way too rich for my blood. But probably the best one I've seen ever.

I've been watching that lot as well, I wish I had the scratch lying around for that kind-of-possibly once in a lifetime chance (or just a very long time).
