I have gathered in recent days that there is going to be a new line of MOTU figures that will be available only online. This fits in with my "vision", if you will, of the future of action figure collecting where you will eventually be able to get figures online exclusively. As in, I can see a day where you will not be able to run down to the local Wal-Mart,Target,etc and buy figures sometime in the future.

I've already hearing the grumblings. Something about a King Randor and a lot of fans being left out of aquiring one. Hopefully the rest will be easily available for the fans.

Actually it was King Greyskull, not King Randor. www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/DisplayCategoryProductListPage/categoryID.12422000"I can see a day where you will not be able to run down to the local Wal-Mart,Target,etc and buy figures sometime in the future." Sadly, that day has been upon many of us for a long time now - I've had to get all of DCUC series 2 and the four Movie Masters figures I have from friends/trades online as they never appeared in stores near me.

The latest issue of ToyFare magazine has a section about these new figures. In my opinion, the direction of this new line is the way they should have gone when the line attempted the relaunch six years ago. I realize Mattel was trying to appeal to the manga style that the kids nowadays see all over the place, but a comparsion of,for example, the new Skeletor and the 2002 Skeletor makes the latter Skeletor figure look sick.

Anybody on the board going to collect these? I'm going to try but at $20 a pop per figure,I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with that or not right now.

I've been sorely tempted too, however as you said, price is an issue. Also because they are online only, shipping to my corner of the world (Australia) just adds to the financial pain.
They are gorgeous figures though - talk about playing with the memories of kids who grew up with the Most Powerful Man in the Universe!
