What are the oldest items in your area that are still in a store? I was at a store today that still has some carded 12 inch G.I. Joe figures copyrighted 1998. I think they had been slightly reduced as they had one price sticker on top of another but they were still $14.99.

I was at a local Zellers (same as a K-Mart used to be) in Toronto about 2 years back that was having a huge clearance sale on toys. They actually had a couple of Jurassic Park figures on clearance for about $3.00 each. I passed on them since i'm not a JP collector plus the cardbacks were shredded to s**t. This was an old store so i'm assuming that nobody cared for their storage area for years and this stuff just got tossed in a corner somewhere. older stores are usually the better bet when looking for cool finds.

These days i don't see to much for old stuff (let alone new figures) on store shelves whenever I get a chance to look. The best I have ever came across was a beat up Thundercats Laser Sabre in the discount bin at a TrU back in the late 1990's. They also still had a few Atari games as well.

In 2004 or 2005,I remember going to a Tuesday Morning store and finding 12" Star Wars dolls from 1996,the wave that had Princess Leia and the Stormtrooper in it. In either 2001 or 2002,the wife and I were headed home from Colorado and stopped in a convience store and I saw some sort of die cast car that had an early 80s copyright date on the back of its package. It wasn't a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car,but the bubble was yellowing .

I miss going to drug stores that used to have old stock FOREVER. I once bought a MOC 12 back Star Wars Death Squad Commander at a drug store in 1988 in Hampton Virginia. Nobody bought it because it was overpriced at $4.99!
The oldest item I ever saw at a regular store was a Gilbert Illya Kurakin Man From Uncle figure at a department store in Massachusetts in 1983. No one in the store was available to get a price for it, and we were on vacation and had to get rolling so I did not buy it.

In Scotland there used to be a store called Your More Store. In the early 90's(maybe 92-93) i used to go in there and they would have G1 Transformers, old Star Wars, He-Man, Visionaries, Supernaturals and other older toys marked down for discount/clearance. Sadly i never bought any at the time as i was in the early stages of my wrestling collection. Big thumbs up to them though for stocking WCW Galoobs for half of what every other store sold them for.

The Drug store round the corner from my new apartment has approx 20-25 Dick Tracy wrist communcator things, Based on the Warren Beatty film of the same name, they are from 89/90 i think so have been on the rack for almost 20 years now. Still have original $4.99 price tags though, you can tell by the yellowing on them.

When K Mart went bankrupt in 2002 I got Bronze Bombers and Action Master Transformers by the arm loads for under a buck. Unfortunately at the time I was in college and needed money for things like eating, rent, and beer. I wish there was an undo feature on ebay.

OK so i was at the Drug Store again today and they have the Dick Tracy Strapper Snappers still on the shelf, i counted them, they have 27 of them still hanging up with the $4.99 price tags still on them. On the bottom shelf they have 2 Skeleton Warriors story/colouring books too for 79c each. 2 different stories in the books. So those Strapper Snappers are at the 20 year mark and still hanging around. That's pretty wild.
