I've learned more about toys here in the past year than i have in the past 30 by myself. I've never encountered such a wide group of collectors with an even wider range of collecting goals. You should all seriously consider gathering up your combined knowledge of mostly obscure toylines and creating a kick-ass "toy guide to obscure toys". Other than Tomarts and a few other small time texts, there's not much available for a collector to thumb through. Some of you could contribute pictures, others info. Between all the people on this website, i'm sure everyone could chip in some cash or materials and you could at least print up a few copies. I know all this sounds a little crazy, but wouldn't it just be so cool to have an "Action-figures.ca guide to the obscure" guidebook sitting on your shelves displayed next to your toylines? Anyways, nuff ranting for now. Everyone throw your two cents into this convo. if you like.

I think this is what Chad is doing with his on-line figure guide. However, I do like the idea of a book.

Actually posting stuff here makes it harder to collect because generally people get a bug in their bonnet to collect whatever you think is neat-o. If you have a cool line keep it to yourself till your done or P.M on the down low. Also someone has a book in the works , someone who has been into the "ODD" lines way before most of the members of the board(me included) were. When its all said and done Cash Rules Everything Around Me, dolla dolla bills yall.

Wu-Tang Clam aint nuttin to flock with !!!!! ...Beat me to it .... WU world order. Anyway....i agree that abook is an excellent idea myself. It wouldnt be of much use to me (im a customizer first and foremost so everything i see has some value even if its just an arm or leg) but any attempt to preserve knowledge should be well received. Never forget.....

Meaty is correct that their are times when someone posts info on an unknown line, others will get into collecting it. The other side of the coin is that as more people learn what these unknown figures are, more will come to light on Ebay as well as for trade/sale from other collectors.
I do understand that a few members are frustrated by this as what they once used to be able to pick-up for under $5, now can be tougher to get due to the new competition from the knowledge of this forum. It is also their right to divulge as much info on these new figure lines as they like. That is the way it goes, I find that patients almost always pays off and usually the demand for most of these figures levels out in time.
Over time many collectors of these lines on Ebay and from other forums have found this site and have become members. It is thanks to allot of these collectors all with various knowledge on many different figure lines that have made this site so full of great toy info!

It is pretty much inevitable that these things will happen. It is a good thing to have this site grow larger, it would get boring after awhile if all we had on here was a group of 10 collectors or so swapping info only between themselves just so nobody else went after some of the more obscure stuff.
As long as everyone contributes what they can, some have more knowledge than others, but there are other ways such as posting collection pics and such. I am sure there are a fair share of Ebay scalpers who visit this site and use its knowledge for their gain, without ever making a post. To block access to them would also be blocking access to many potential new members who I am sure will be more than eager to contribute to the site.

I appreciate this site and the fact that I was invited in when I signed up. I do understand where Meatybat is coming from though, and appreciate his point of view, I have had one incident already where I accidently bid against Clambo and felt horrible when I did so. Luckily I did not win the auction, but as many of you know by now I tend to be part of the Politically Correct clan too, lol, and apologized for stepping on his toes. I do however collect so many things, some of which I did not even know their true titles etc... till getting on here and soaking up the knowlege from peeps like Meaty, Gort, 10incher, Shuptrine, Cap, etc... As a result I do know now how to search better for my items but will try to not over bid those of you who are are a bit more hardcore. That is unless I feel compelled to beat the Meat!!!!!

Don't sweat bidding against me. I buy a lot of toys (which is why i'm having trouble locating those Dinoriders for you 10incher). What I do if I see 10incher, Sanfords, Meatybatch, and a select few others, bidding on a lot that i'm interested in, i'll hit them up and see if we can work a deal. If they're bidding on a solo item, i'll let it go. I like building my collection, but I like helping others complete theirs as well. Plus, I scan frequently, so if I know what you collect or what you're looking for, i'll shoot you a link if I run across it. All of that goes out the window if a Tomland figure I need comes up, or, right now, any Bugmen of Insecta come along.

Ok, i don't know who to be more afraid of. The Unofficial Wu-Tang Clan fan club or the Secret Society of toy collecting conspiracy theorists.
