The only figure produced for the Alien movie, it was 18" high. Parents complained that it was to scary for kids so Kenner had to pull it off the shelves. I would love to get my hands on one of these.

I agree that is one of the coolest toys ever made. They are bloody expensive to. And loose ones frequently have the back spikes broken off.

I had a two pack made by Kenner in the early 80's I think. It was a two pack of 1 18" alien and an 18" Predator and on the box it had ' Predator 'VS' Alien 20th aniversary edition.

The 2-pack sounds like it would be from the late 80s but probably the early 90s.

Too creepy for my house. It's nicely done but makes me just a bit on edge just looking at the pic lol. Would be a great addition to a movie museum of some sorts though.

There is a toy store in my town that has one of these open, and it HAS all of the spikes in tact. He is asking 100 for it. Good deal? I was already thinking about it.

That sounds like a decent price to me as well. There can't be too many of these floating around.

Yeah, me too. Sounds like a steal! In good and intact condition, with the box and small poster, it usually goes for around $350, I've seen.

Good deal though be sure to ask if it has any repro parts, I believe their have been allot of parts made for these over the last few years. If you don't care if its repro then I say just go for it.

Gentle Giant is making a 24" reproduction of the Kenner 18" Alien, packaged in a repro box.

I wish Super7, who did the 3 1/4" reaction figures, would re-do this toy.

I have two of the 18" Tsukuda or Halcyon model kits! (plus a smaller Sega model). I love them. I've never had an original Kenner in my hands to compare, but I'd say these are possibly more hollow and light. One of mine is an older harder plastic beat up version (maybe from the 80's, missing clear cover), the other is a softer clean new 90's version that I could paint, but I kinda like it in it's unpainted state. (clicking on the pic links will have more info). Sure wish I could get some good clear domes for them though. I totally lucked out finding them on ebay in the 90's before the new movies and Neca alien craze began, so I found them affordable. I'm sure I wouldn't now. )~(

Awesome! Yeah they're pricey now. I'll get one some day, wish I did years ago when I saw them at different cons but I was even more broke then.

I got mine for 100 online, I had to have it. Alien is my all time favorite movie. The chest burster scene is unprecedented.

I saw this on the Toy Hunter show recently! Very cool, I've heard a rumour super 7 were going to do a re-release one. The packaging is very cool as well. Expensive toy, but you get what you pay for

I remember seeing what seemed to entire shop-fulls of these things at the time, Nobody ever seemed to buy them.
They were too big, too expensive, and none of the kids I hung around with knew what the heck they were!
Back in the day, even though I was fourteen, I looked about 12! I couldn't get into Adult Rated movies at the Cinema, and Video tapes were just something that you saw as a speculative piece on Tomorrows World. I think Kenner seriously shot themselves in the 'Ahem' by producing this figure, and it is such a shame that they they cancelled the smaller figures - because they would have been in 'pocket money' affordability, and so would probably have done much better.
Later, at various Collectors Fairs and the like, I remember seeing bins FULL of this Alien - and STILL nobody was buying them!
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I just can't wait to invent my Time Machine! My one is a sad old chap, his leg has broken off and is beyond my ability to repair. I put him up on eBay recently with a start price that would be equivalent to $100 - not one single bid, But it's surprising just how many wannabe's contacted me after the auction ended! (Didn't REALLY want to sell him anyway - so they got pretty short shrift from me!)
Anyway, I'll post some pics if I can work out how to!
