You go to an advertised Yard/Garage sale that states it has "Action Figures" to find it has loads of McDonalds, Burger King or other chain restaurant toys from within 12 months of the sale date. If you have kids (like i do) then your house gets flooded with those toys but c'mon, it's not like you're going to get folk to your sale if that's all your selling. I know some collectors and kids are after them but don't use that on your advertisement if the only Action Figures you have are those. I have picked up some of those toys myself before though but usually it's after i have picked up older figures or something for my 4 year old son. (I did miss out on the Lord of the Rings and the Incredibles line-ups when they were at Mickie D's)
That rant out the way.
I have seen some of the members here say they picked up this or that at a store/yard sale/con. That's awesome but here in Georgetown the local Goodwill doesn't carry figures which sucks. Yard Sales is usually people selling broken or badly mistreated figures and there are NO stores that sell vintage stuff. There were places like that in SCotland which was awesome as you never knew what you would see from week to week.
And with that my little grumble is over.
Hope you guys find some cool stuff this weekend.

I hate it when a yard/garage sale advertises "a bunch of old comics" and there's about 5 old Richie Rich comics. There's not anything wrong with Richie Rich comics, but 5 isn't "a bunch" of old comics!

I hate it when manufacturers let certain stores get Exclusives. Target, KB Toys, Toys r us etc all get exclusives of figures or vehicles or variants. As a collector its a pain in the neck trying to find and collect the variants. (My brother collects Star Wars specifically Imperial stormtroopers and Clone troopers and there are so many variants and exclusives out there) I also hate it how you rarely see Mail Away offers on figure cards now. I remember the GI Joe mail away where you could chose the character background and they sent your figure to you. In fact i wonder if anyone here has their own Joe from that mail away offer?

I hate when I get to a Flea market and/or yard sale and see someone coming out with a box or bag of toys, that I didn't ever see because that person got up before the sun did and got stuff before me. Same idea when I got to FM or YS and someone is standing at the table picking up a figure and me standing behind that someone, just waiting for the moment they put it back on the table. I'd rather not know or see these people. or when you get to a table and you ask if they have figures and the seller says, "we did, but someone got them earlier." I know it's my fault for asking , so now I don't. Don't you hate it when I rant like this and smash my head into a brick wall.

I hate it when i would buy a figure and when i opened it one of it's legs, arms, knee, elbow joints was broken and it fell off as soon as i opened it. Felt like a slap in the face. I hate it when one of your favourite figures breaks (Joes band snaps etc) due to playing with it constantly. I hate it when i am traveling to work on my bycicle and i see a figures arm or leg lying in the road and some smashed pieces of a body. Who the hell leaves their figures in the road???

In yard sales and flea markets, I hate it when the seller sells a second-hand item the same price, or even more expensive than it was as new in the stores. Don't laugh: it happens more often than you think.
I also hate when a seller doesn't show everything he-she has. You look, you choose, you buy... than the seller replaces the item you bought by something even greater. Crap.
And what about going to a second-hand store and, looking in a corner, you see a box full of things. By curiosity, you start to look in. Suddenly, the seller arrives to you and says: "these items are not for sale, yet; they are still waiting to get praised." Damn. And you think: "why didn't you put a warning message on the box, then?" Crap.
Or, did this happen to you? At a flea market or a yard sale, toys are sold by bags. For example, if you see a bag with an item you want, you have to buy the whole bag. And if you want two items that are in two different bags, you have to buy both bags. What a waste. Well, at one time, I solved the problem this way: a little boy with his dad also bought a bag from this lady. Since the child was looking for cars, I gave him all the car toys I had in my own bag; for trade, he gave me little animals he didn't want. That way, not only I kept what I actually meant to buy, but also other things fitting more my taste than little cars.
Something else that I hate in such sales: a box full of items... but all in pieces. You look in the box. Here, appears a soldier's leg... than the tail of a sea horse... than a Barbie head... than the soldier's arm... a Barbie leg... the soldier's head... a lion's body... an elephant's ear... Crap. You start to complete the toys with the loose parts like a puzzle and you are lucky when all pieces of one toy are in the box. It happened to me once. When I saw the separate parts of a sea horse, I searched until I assembled all pieces together to buy the sea horse. Otherwise, it would still be in the box, in many pieces...

I hate it when i am collecting a certain series of figures and something happens to draw notice to the line and people crank the prices up due to the interest (ie someone dies and figures of them go up in price)

You go into a store and see a line of figures you think look pretty good but don't have the money to get any. As soon as you get money you go back and they are not there anymore and the store won't be getting any back in.
