Mail away figures were one of the best commercial investments for toy companies in the eignthies. Did you order a mail away figure when you was a kid? The idea of this thread is to make a list of all the mail away action figures from the eighties. I love the Thundercats Mummra mummie figure and Police Academy Captain Harris figure too. Wich ones do you had as a kid?

I love mail ins too. They never really made it to the UK apart from some Star Wars and G1. Agreed it was a very cool thing for toy companies to do. I don`t remeber the last time you could trade in POP`s for anything

As a kid I received King Randor by mail on December 23th. It was a pretty cool Christmas gift that reached me in advance. The timing was perfect and well, he was He-man dad and looked liked a Viking warrior king. Great memories!

Yeah I sent off for him as well, and the Commander figure, and the fan club stuff. I think there was only a couple of Star Wars mail offers in the UK like the hoth battle gear set. Used to send all my Action Man stars off for random things as well, like the Canadian Mounted Police set.

I will never forget sending away for the secert new character from He-Man with the Wonder Bread offer. What a big let down when I received He-Man with brown hair in the mail, I thought I would get some brand new kick but character. Funny thing is I hated this figure so much he just sat in a box and thus stayed in really good shape. Of course some how he is one of the most toughest figures to get. I received the Star Wars Nein Numb and Anakin Skywalker along with many of the Gi Joe offers but my favorite is Steppenwolf from the Super Powers line. It took almost 6 weeks to get, but boy it was worth it!

I remember sending for a few mail-away Star Wars figures as a kid.
The first one was for 4-Lom. I remember buying a figure at Woolworths and noticed a large sticker covering the lower half of the cardback. I don't remember what was on the sticker but peeled it off to see what was underneath, which of coarse was the offer to send in POP's for a free 4-Lom figure. In small writing it stated that the offer expired a year prior, so that was the reason for the sticker coverage. I clipped out a bunch of POP and sent them in anyway, and sure enough, eventually got my 4-Lom weeks later. Was pretty stoked that it actually came in.
Other than that i did send away for Bib Fortuna and maybe another SW figure, though can't remember which.

i was never attention oriented enough to notice mail-in offers. i do find that i am visually attracted to many mail-ins now and buy them quite often. i did get the mail-in Madman from Toyfare about 10 years back, but was nearly 20 then, so that i guess doesn't count toward the "as a kid" part...

I remember Pepsi having a captain power promotion where you would spell p-o-w-e-r or you could win instantly. I got a Lord Dredd Figure and my brother got captain power.
Years later I moved a tv stand and found an instant winner cap.
