I just got beastman's whip in a bag of MOTU weapons over the weekend. I now have a beastman with is chestplate, arm bands, whip & comic book. I now consider him 100% complete. out of the same bag I got trapjaw's hook. I have everything for him except his ring & comic book. I consider him to be complete, as well. would you say he is complete or not? how important are mini comic books and file card to making your collection complete? Does all your G.I.joe's have to have a filecard to be loose & complete? This is just something that has been bothering me. What do you all consider to be complete even though it came packaged with something non-essential to the figure itself? or are you anal?

im pretty sure it differs between toy lines,
as for joes 100% complete I class as a figure and all his accessories now technically the filecard is just a fancy part of packaging but it is also an accessory to the figure, it tells you about the character etc,
Again with transaformers the Tech Specs are just fancy part of the packaging but they are still apart of the figure.
for both joes and transformers it would of been so much better to of just had the techs and filecard in with the figure all cut and ready to go.
with He-man I would class it as everything you got with the figure when you opened it, so yes trap jaw would need his ring and comic.

I personally would consider He-man figures complete if they have their comic, but for a lot of people this doesn't matter and they consider a figure complete as it has all its accesories. Its just a personal thing. most comics are relatively easy to come by, getting some accesories could be more of a problem...
Trap jaw (and Tri klops) didn't always come with a ring to my best knowledge, for me he would only need his comic to be complete (i have a few with ring). But if you see him listed on ebay they would call him complete like you have him and nobody would contact the seller to disagree.
For joes I also need the File card to call em complete, but same story as with he-man figures........
I'm from the Netherlands and we had mail away steel brigades (with patches) and keel haul and they didn't come with a file card these i consider complete without them, steel brigade needs to have his patch though, and they go in my complete bin, but par example my big boa with everything except his file card goes in the incomplete bin.....

Personally, as long as the accesories the figures need are there I'm happy, For example a Ninja Turtle need only his nunchucks not all the other crap that came with him. A G.I. Joe any weapon that defines him is a must (e.g. Road Block needs his machine gun) or what ever looks good with him/her. File Cards and tech specs, mini comics and other goodies are awesome and would look cool if displayed correctly but eh, whatever.
I suppose if you wanted to list these things on ebay or some such thing, than you would need everything the collecter who is willing to shell out the best sum want you to have to be complete, and that proably means goodies plus accessories
This is coming from someone whos first love is m.u.s.c.l.e. who have no accessories or even really much of a back story.

I consider a figure complete as long as it has all the weapons and accessories he came with. Any rings, buttons, decals, mini-comics, file cards, etc. that came with the figure or incorporated into the packaging, is all an extra to me and not as important (there are a few exceptions though). Still nice to have to go with the figure though.

I would consider loose complete a figure fully intact with all their accessories, but not necessarily mini-comics or backboard.
Now if it said in box complete, then I would expect it to be unopened. Maybe a few bends in the card or dents in the bubble, but unopened at least.

I'm with mrjayberry. What good are a bunch of other accessories that will spend their time in a plastic bag? If the figure can't hold them, I don't see the point. Nice to have on one hand, but I'm about practicality (as practical as toy collecting can be!)
Interchangable things like Trap-Jaws weapons comes down to personal taste I spose but once I've got my figures posed with weapon(s) in hand, I rarely change them.

It honestly depends on the toyline, as was said above. It can even come down to a figure to figure basis. I tend to make toys as complete as a I can. I don't have an infinite budget, so I do my best to track down what I need, but typically as long as a figure has essential accessories, I'm pleased personally. But, every collector is different. I collect for my own fun..many collect like its a business.

I think having the figure and its accessories is complete. comics, filecards and stats are just gravy. I have just started collecting the filecards for joes so if anyone has any for sale/trade pm me thx

I have to agree with most and chalk it up to collector preference. Mini-comics and things like that really to me are extras. You also have to condsider that many Mini-comics packed in with MOTU also had no rhyme or reason to who got them. As a child I sometimes ended up with multiples of the same Mini-comic even tho my parents purchased different characters. Also a particular Mini-comic about a character sometimes didn't come with that character's toy. Look at Teela for example. She was never packed with The Tale Of Teela, but it was about her. So no Mini-comics or extras are not essential for figure completeness just nice extras. Another great example is the Star Wars POTF coins. Not every charcter came with that copin with their image on it or some were issued with and without a coin like Anakion.
