At the same time though tfnut, what kind of mark are we talking about- especially in cases like combiner handguns in the case of Transformers?
By all means we should have distinctions to prevent fraud, but isn't the whole point of repro parts for it to look like something is complete with genuine parts.
What would work for me is a tiny sprue mark or something, something which distinguishes it on close inspection, but at a glance, looks just like the real thing.

as i said i think things should be marked as repros, i also definately want repros. i hate when i have some figure that is missing one thing i want, but that one thing costs 3 times as much as the actual figure. i display my toys as modern art and i do like them complete for display. i dont want a chess set missing a knight. but at the same time the point of the repro is to look like the missing item. i dont want my guns cast in pink plastic or something to make them distinguishable. ideally i would like things simply marked with a small date stamp. if it simply is stamped with 2007 or 1997 then i know its not a vintage 1977 or 1987 weapon.
i would like to see some entire figures reproduced or bootleged though. i would love some shiny new dragonriders of the styx figures in some new cool colors.

I wanted to make some really legit looking repro King Randor capes. The only difference between my capes and the original was going to be a big gold olde English "R" on the back. For repro or Randor. Whatever is funnier.
