This is inspired by a thread I read on He-Man.org. I was wondering about certain figures if they exist as a prototype and/or were even produced.
Thundercats Mad Bubbler Silverhawks MonStar with Laser Lance Silverhawks Copper Kid with Laser Discs Captain Power Dread Commander Captain Power Dread Trooper
I have never seen pics of any actual figures, only shots from various toy catalogs. Anyone have any idea if any of these were even produced? I personally don't think so, though a few prototypes may exist somewhere. Any other figures you can think of to add to the list?

Silverhawks monstar with lazer lance and the lazer disc copper kidd are definetly unproduced. I'm not sure either of these made it to first shot stage as I have never heard of or seen them but I would guess a hardcopy or 2 might be out there somewhere. The pictures shown in Kenner catalogs are definetly hand painted hardcopies.

Welcome to the boards Jeff Thanks, I finally have an answer to those 2 figures! Just wondering where you found out that they were never produced, did you work for Kenner at one time?

No I never worked for Kenner, but I certainly wish I did . I'm just a prototype toy collector. I've never seen or heard of a carded or loose produced figure for sale for either the 2nd release mon*star or the copperkid with the visor. If it was made surely an example of a figure would turn up from time to time. You don't see a lot of ultra-sonic suit quicksilvers out there but it still shows up frequent enough. I think alot of price guides simple have goofied by included these 2 figures. Even so they usely put "NRS" (no recorded sale) next to the figures. Anyways I've been dabbling in silverhawks for awhile now. It's a fantastic line IMO. -Jeff

I totally agree, it is agreat line. Thanks for the info, I always thought they were unproduced as well. Just leaves me with 1 more figure to complete the line then.

Well i know for a fact that Mad Bubbler was never produced. I also know for a fact that Hollywood Heroes has sold 2 different colored hardcopies in the last couple of years. Jordan over at Hollywood Heroes always has great stuff and you might want to contact him regarding the Silverhawks items. He may know something.

So many vintage figure lines have characters that were never made for the line. A few that would have been pretty cool are:
Buck Rogers - Hawk Battlestar Galactica - Apollo & Boomer Super Powers - Blue Devil, The Creeper, Deadman, Hawkgirl (I could go on and on) Secret Wars - The Fantastic 4, more X-Men, Thor, Hulk, Galactus & a ton of the other villians featured in the comic.

The dungeons & dragons line would have been great if they had put out articulated versions of the kids from the toon & Venger. Also, an articulated Madusa for the Clash of the titans line would have been awesome! Oh well, what could have been.

Are we talking things you would have liked to see from a toyline or pieces that were actually going to be produced and just didn't make it for whatever reason?
Anyways here are a few pieces i wish were put into production.
Tigersharks Dragonstein (would kill for this prototype) Tigersharks Angel Tigersharks Octavia Tigersharks The Sark Tigersharks Fish Tank Playset Thundercats Feliner Thundercats Lunatacs Thundercats Mad Bubbler (of course Thundercats Castle Plundarr (would have been nice)
I can go on and on but that's enough for now.

There could have been so many other cool Thundercats figures I don't remember if the show lost popularity near the end of its run (resulting in stopped toy production), but I do remember my local channel didn't air the last number of episodes for some reason. I remember being pretty pissed about it.

There are tons of info on protos floating around, but there still seems to be loads of stuff missing. Its mainly the female characters, but some other cool stuff too.
I would go crazy for a Cactus Head from Bravestarr or Air Head & Trancealot from Filmations Ghostbusters. Also old Gloria and her Shark from MASK would be cool.
How about you guys?

I have been rather obsessive over the unproduced second series of Sectaurs. After I saw a group pic of those figures back in october, I was quick to acquire all of the first series. Right now, I am looking to commission any sculptors to create those second series to expand the Sectaurs universe. In addition to that, I am currently working customizing about 10 new Sectaurs characters and am thinking to add five more beyond that. By the time I am done with all the customizing and commissions, I should have close to 30 Sectaurs figures.

The only line that got more than the averagefemale figures is Filamtions Ghostbusters. Ithink they have the most out of all the 80`s boys lines bar GI Joe

I was watching "Spaceballs" and they were playing with character toys. How cool would a Dark Helmet action figure be?

Aviva should have gone ahead and released The Dark Crystal figures so they would've bombed, taken up space and cost me under $100 for a complete set on Ebay. Instead i'm going to end up spending thousands for the single prototype figures...

I wish they made a good and accurate version of Arcee and Unicron From TF: the animated movie. I wish D.C. comics would grow a pair of manufacturing balls and compete with Marvel. I stopped buying their figures because they can't decided (with todays standards) whether they want to be figures or statues and end up being bad at both. Vertigo comic's Lucifer action figures would rock. And posters, and t-shits.... They finally made a version of Skyfire, but it was a little late for me. Wished it would have happened during the G2 days when I would have appreciated it more. I would like a complete alternators badass redo of devastator with SIX robots. I bought the new one and resold it because I just didn't think it looked enough like the original and didn't make up for it by being better, plus it only had 5 robots. 6 was what made Dev special back in the day. Most game us 5, he one-uped it. Some really good nintendo figures would rock. Unrelated, I wish they made more psychonauts stuff (it was a video game), be it action figures, more games, anything really. If you haven't played it yet, it is currently free at gametap and takes about 11 hours to beat. www.gametap.com/home/play/gameDetails/000475950More TF Alternators and masterpiece (and make them easier to find!) I could go one, but I think this is enough.

There were figure and car sets for the WWF LJN line that were never produced they were advertised in LJN's 1987 catalog with prototype pictures. I remember Hulk Hogan had a car, King Kong Bundy had a motorcycle, Roddy Piper also had a hot rod type muscle like Hogan but in different color would have been cool if they were released.
