Not sure if they count as "toys" btu definitely Atari 2600 in 1981 (I think) and then later, NES when it first came out with R.O.B and came with 2 games, Duck Hunt and Gyromite (I had to buy Super Mario later on when it came out, originally it didn't come with the game)
As for an action figure, either the gen 1 Megatron or the super gobot Psycho.

It was Chanukah for me.
In 1984, I got much of the initial Super Powers lineup (Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Lex Luthor, Joker, Penguin, Batmobile, Supermobile, Hall of Justice) over the course of 8 days. The best part was that my parents managed to keep it a secret from me, and our fireplace mantle was just covered with mysterious wrapped presents that I had to choose from each night. I figured out pretty quickly that they'd all be Super Powers figures, but I had no idea which.
1983, 1985, and 1986 were all pretty great runner ups too. In '83, my parents pulled a Castle Greyskull from out of nowhere on the last night of Chanukah. I had no idea it was coming. In fact, I wasn't even aware it existed until that moment! I assume the rest of the toys I got that year were Masters of the Universe figures, but I don't remember. I was only going on four.
'85 was all about Transformers and Voltron. I got Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Skids, Starscream, Soundwave, and all three robots that made up Voltron II.
'86 was my WWF wrestling figures year. I got the WWF Wrestling Ring, Ricky the Dragon, Hillbilly Jim, Junkyard Dog, and the British Bulldogs giftset. I'm sure there were more, but that's what I remember.
I think '87 was Muscle Men, '88 was Garfield books, '89 was TMNT, and by '90 I was moving away from toys. None of these years were anywhere near as memorable as '83 to '86 (ages 4-7).

I hate to say, but while growing up, my family didn't celebrate Christmas, or birthdays for that matter. The best present I got was this year. I finally got the 2 missing wrestlers for my generic Wrestling Champions line. I have all 18 now! Mission Complete.

Don't remember the year but it was early 80's and was the Dungeons and Dragons Fortress of Fangs playset. I spent countless hours playing with that thing. I remember all my friends had castle Greyskull and I had the Fortress of Fangs. I never was envious tbh as the FoF was sooo much more fun. Greyskull was boring and depressing in comparison. Only problem was the FoF was a little cramped for He-Man guys but otherwise blew Greyskull out of the water as far as I was concerned.
