What's the oldest figure in your collection? Mine are not this old, as I mainly collect 1980's stuff as you might have guessed. But I do have a soft spot for the older Marx Toys 6" soldier from the 1960's and 70's. I Have some cowboys, Indians, Viking, Universal Monsters and Frontiermen. But my favorite are the prehistoric men, of which I have the whole series sitting on my DVD shelf, just in front of my cavemen & dinosaurs movies row! Updated picture, I really have the whole series now (I first posted only five).

I've got a 1933 tin Popeye figure with moveable arms and legs. I've got a bunch of Ratfinks from the 60's and some 12" Joes from the 60's as well. I do also have a bunch of the 6" Marx plastic men, the ones you've mentioned and some of the Marvel heroes. Oh, and I have several of the Ideal 3" Justice League figures and some villians , also from the 60's.

The Marx Marvel Heroes are really cool, someday I'll have to hunt these. The Ironman breaking is chain is one of the best rendering of the character done in plastic IMO. As for my cavemen I have them all but realized I forgot to put the one with the club on the picture. So not so complete lineup! UPDATE: Damn, I thought I had him. One to chase down on E-Bay!

Yeah, he was my grandfather's or my grandfather's brother, not sure which. I found him in my grandparents attic after my grandmother passed away. He's in great shape, only missing the corn cob end to his pipe. I've seen two of them on ebay, one in horrible shape went for over $2,000 and one in slightly better shape that went around $1500. The one I have is in much better shape than both of those, but i'd never get rid of it.

My oldest figures are Mego Micronauts, they go back to 1974 0r 1976. Other than that, I have a rather nice troll figure that's dated '67 - but since he doesn't have any articulation, he doesn't count

If Marx plasticmen count, so do trolls.

If Marx plasticmen count, so do trolls. Well, it turned out to be 1964, even. And here it is. It's labeled "Dam Things 1964" and "Dam Design". More info on this little creature here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_Doll

Yeah, figure or just toys, it's just for fun anyway. Weird little critter, I wouldn't have thought it would be from the 1960's. That article was pretty interesting. Judging by the cyclic comeback of Trolls, we should be ready for a new wave soon...

I also have a few of the old Marx Johnny West figures, a number of the horses, the buffalo and a few other items from the line. Don't collect them outright but just picked them up here and there over the years. Also have a couple of the Billy Blastoff space sets from the 1960s www.robotnut.com/billy/

My auldest would prolly be a GI Joe from 64. Offficially Joe was the first to be called an Action Figure. Hasbro freakin invented Action Figures. Anything before 1964...not included! Marx figures and Dam Trolls? Hell no they're not AF's. Tin Popeye? Noooo way! It's a tin...fig...Do...doll figure. The Ideal Wood and Composition Superman DOLL from the 40's. Unmistakably not an action figure. Or is it?

I like the Superman toy. I think you can make an argument on it being an action figure. Does the arms and or legs move If so, we may have a Winner !!

I've seen that Superman pop up on ebay before. He had been touched up paint wise and had a repro cape, but all in all he was in nice shape. The reserve was not met on him, and at auctions end he was at around $900. He's definitely an action figure in my book.

That Superman is nice, Daltron. I think it qualifies as an action figure as well. A lot of Superman collectors would kill for it, I'm sure. Nice piece, man.

He doesn't own it, he was just showing what he thought was the oldest figure. It's not the oldest, just an example of an older one. Supes has lots of joints. He's basically a bunch of pieces of wood strung together. I don't own it, but my dad had one for about a week back in the 90's. Here's a picture of a Popeye, "build your own" Kit from the mid 30's. Clam, It wouldn't be very nice of your Popeye to pick on my poor Joe, he's got more cracks than a porno convention.

Oh yes, I bought an Avengers #1 from them years ago when I was still into comics. The last catalog I got from them was years ago and the catalog was full of comics that Nicholas Cage was selling. He had every high priced comic you could think of. I still have it for reference. I stopped getting the catalogs when I moved.

My oldest are probably my Matt Mason figures, late 60's. I used to have a 1960's Yoshiya High Wheel robot tin toy as a kid, that would have been nice to still own

It's always one part heartbreaking and one part such a thrills to hunt back toys from our childhood, as long as they can be bought at a decent price! Nice Major Matt Mason collection Gort, always liked how the first series have somehow realistic science gizmo (or at least plausible and in par with the latest NASA research) up to the complete sci-fi and Aliens universe of the later entry.

And that Superman is definately an Action Figure and a " I will probably never own it, Holy Grail of mine." I have always wanted that one!!! I love GI Joe, but just because Hasbro coined the phrase "Action Figure" does not mean they invented them. If Popeye winds up and walks that is an action, if Superman's wooden joints move that is an action, now that troll on the other hand well I guess the Troll Force could have a pet or something....

The Troll creature actually makes a pretty good fantasy steed if you slap an Other World saddle on and let a 3 3/4 inch figure ride it. can't get rid of the goofy look, but hey, if Atreyu can have a Luck Dragon......

I used to have some vintage GI Joes (60s & 70s) but sold them. I still have some megos and 1970s diecast robots.
I do have a cast iron bank that was my Grandfather's. My mom was born in '34 and says it was from her father's childhood, so that puts it in the 1910s.
The absolute strangest thing I own (sadly not a toy) is a 100% authentic Playboy Club trophy mounted Bunny tail. Plaque under the tail reads "caught live at the playboy club".
