I know that alot of you have HUGE collections, so with space at a premium what makes the cut in terms of display. Does the item have to have special signifigance to you or just look cool. Also what do you do with the stuff that does not get displayed, is it stored in boxes somewhere or rotated through so it gets displayed.
Me personally I display my loose figures and a few vehicles/playsets, the rest are boxed up in the storage room. and occasionally get displayed if I have some extra room.

I usually just go with what I am really into at the time and cycle the different lines from top shelf to bottom to storage. Top Shelf right now is Vintage lines from the late 70's. In storage....Star Wars and DC stuff.

I really don't have anything displayed other than the more recent acquisitions. I display them in a fairly random fashion. Keeping it loose & colorful. Truly a mixed bag. Everything eventually ends up in storage bags & placed in totes. When we get out of this condo, our house will most definitely have a room of random wonder where all my pretties will reside.

Lately I haven't had much of anything on display. What is out is the really personal stuff, or the stuff that most easily blends with the rest of the decor. We moved into an unfinished apartment 2 years ago, and it's still not finished. Once that's taken care of, a lot more will be displayed.
When I do have a lot on display, I focus on the things that no one else has. The one of a kind, and super rare items. I also focus on things that I have a lot of. Like I love the G.I. Joe VAMP and it's many incarnations, so I'll have a bunch of those displayed together.

everything is (well, will be, when the unpacking process is finished) out in the open to view. i don't believe in keeping toys in storage. if it's packed away, what is the point of owning it?

I don't have room to display everything, so I keep many of my loose figure collections in Rubbermaid containers. However, moving the figures around in the bins to grab one for the bottom takes its tear on paint jobs. This is beginning to show most prominently in my Justice League Unlimited and DC Infinite Heroes figures. I need a better solution.

Maybe you need to put plastic wrap around the figures, since it clings. Depending on the number you have, it could get expensive, but worth it if it saves the paint.

Get the generic brand.
