Had a major score on craig's list today. Several vintage store wars action figures including 4 of the final 17, a complete Jabba the Hutt playset with box and instructions, and rancor for $25. The guy also had card backs for Nien Numb the Rancor Keeper and a few others. I'll post pictures later.

Some of my best second hand scores have comes from Value Village & Goodwill thrift shops. My Transformers Jetfire came with half the armor from Value Village for $2 (props to my roommate who worked there for spotting it) My Transformers Shockwave came from Goodwill for about $2. It has a great body, but had broken elbows and a missing arm. Acquired the needed body parts and now it's easily one of my favorites. My Best score came from the same Goodwill: A bed comforter bag FULL of GI Joe figures and some vehicles. I scored nearly the entire '82 - '86 figure run with most/all near mint and mostly complete, and many complete duplicates (Fire Fly, etc) too. Price....$15

This happened about 15 years ago. My Brother and I went to a small near by garage sale in San Francisco. A man about 25 years old was bringing out items from his garage when I noticed a Star Wars record album. I asked if he had any other SW items and he said he had a cookie tin full of action figures (Star Wars & Battlestar Galactica). He said that he already tried to sell them to a local toy dealer but they were not interested and turned them down...none the less, I talked him into bringing them out. I quickly wrangled up the Darth, Luke, and Ben upon opening the tin and checked for telescoping lightsabers. First Luke, then Darth, and finally when I checked Bens lightsaber it, to my surprise, extended out full length! I looked at my brother and he reconized what it was and I nearly passed out. I convinced the man to sell the figures for $6.00 each (there were 40 of them all together)., and smoothly left. Around the corner I broke down with excitement for I knew he was very hard to find and I also had the telescoping Luke already. Years later I am still looking for a Telescoping Vader...and I aim to get it someday.

I have been on a tear lately. It started with me finding a Webstor in a baggie for $.39. I later found a lot including Thunderpunch He-Man, Man E Faces, Aquatech, Roton, Stridor, and some parts to the Castle from the She-ra line for $1.91. I then found a GIJoe Arctic Cat with the box for $.59. It didn't have Frostbite, or all the parts, but when I opened the box I found several G1 Transformers weapons. I also got a Snout Spout in a baggie for $.39. I then found a baggie for 1.91 that contained 12 Lego mini figs and the G2 Optimus Prime trailer. When I opened the bag I also found a the Rock action figure, a Corps diver, a Rahzar from TMNT, a Batman Figure, and a Robin figure.
I hadn't had that kind of luck in a while, so I am pretty happy right now.

From another thread - but it fits great here.
About 10 years ago I stopped at a garage sale in the east end of Louisville, the rich area, as I was doing some work there that day. While browsing I came across a large black garbage bag with what looked to be some Star Wars logos peeking through...I looked and to my amazement the bag contained 46 Star Wars POTF carded figures!! 39 of the figs were C-3PO with removable limbs and the rest were B-Wing Pilots...and one more thing, the people had taken what looked to be a knife and SCRATCHED the yard sale price for each figure directly into the card.. $1.00. Other than that the figs were in great shape aside from the dented bubble here and there.
I of course bought them all, and by the next weekend I was at the Stewart Promotions flea market selling and trading with my new currency. I really beefed up my collection by trading most of the figs and sold the others, I would say 8-10 of them for $30 each.
I still think of that day, finding those figures, as a collectors dream come true...and I still stop at yard sales.

Some of my finds include a 1981 Skeletor (without accesories) for 5cents, A HAsbro Hulk Hogan, Mr Perfect, X-Men Wolverine from 1998, Nocturnal from the New Adventures of He-Man, and Ripper from Last Action Hero for 2 British Pounds. Last year i was back in Scotland but travelled to England to visit my Mum, she took me to a nearby market where on sundays they had a flea market type deal. This guy had 4 suitcases full of figures. I wanted to buy so many but my suitcases for home were already overfilled. I saw so many i wanted to get as well, Mummie's Alive figures, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Hook, Bucky o'haire, Original He-man, original Ninja Turtles, WCW Toybiz, WWF Jacks, I was bummed cos i didn't have space for them.

It was 1988. I found a boxed Volts V, that's a fairly expensive Shogun Warrior like diecast robot. It was almost complete, and in great condition. They also had most of a vehicle Voltron, and a Super Powers Flash.
Only paid $3 for all of it.

I've had quite a few decent figure lot finds over the years at yard sales - Star wars, Joes, Transformers etc. Last year scored a complete Thundertank for $3. One of the best finds that I had this year was a WWF LJN Warlord for $4. These days its hard enough to come across any old action figures, let alone any that are not broken or are complete. Even newer figures I come across only every so often at yard sales and its usually something from a newer Transformer line or a figure or two from LOTR's. Did get a huge box of Beast Wars figures earlier this year for $20 which I was pretty happy about.
