I got this idea just now from talking to someone, ok here goes:
If you are a male what female toy lines, doll lines, or figure lines, etc... do you admit to most liking, admiring or even collecting?
If you are a female what male toy lines, figure lines, diecast lines, etc... do you admit to most liking, admiring or even collecting?
And why?

I think you should start this one off, Toyboxraider, by volunteering which girl toys you have lined up on your dressing table.

I knew someone would call me out for this, lol. Ok here goes.
As a husband and father of 3 daughters (hell my dog is even a female) I have to admit that over the years My Little Ponys have had some cool accessories, from their newer giant Castles to the exclusives like the Sandiego Comic Con Hero Pony, even their original uniqueness and identities were neat in the 80s. Lanard even made ther own (Corps to Joe like) version in the 80s and I believe they have resurfaced too.
My Grandmother by law has her mint in box complete set of Vintage Strawberry Shortcake Collection displayed in her home and I have to admit among the box art, bright colours, and general design they look marvelous as a collection.
Care Bear Cartoons were fun as a little kid and yes I might have even owned a few, lol.
And finally since Sanfords asked me, I love the WOW girls line that fit in perfect with other Lanard figures like The Corps, and the Princess of Power She-Ra line that have some very cool figures to go with MOTU (Bow does look like a girl though.)
There, my feminine side has been exposed, now what about you other pansies and butches out there.

The WOW figures for me. Maybe some original Ghostbusters stuff. I also have a 12" Bionic Woman figure. Oh, and I have a Mego 12" Wonder Woman and her enemy Nubia. That's about it.

I like Teddy Ruxpin, but I don't think that's girly enough, so I'll admit to liking Jane West from the Marx Best of the West line. I have her standing on my desk right now. She's been there for the past few years. I also like Mego's Sonny and Cher.

Teddy Ruxpin Action figures are pretty cool, they had some pretty neat bad guys in the cartoon series I am not as big on their plush line though. Charlies Angels, Cher, and Jane West are a must!!! Some of these I had not even thought of.
I have the Multi Toys 12 inch Dorothy Doll from WOO to accompany the 3 3/4 figures, the Wrangler Cowgirl Doll from Wrangler, and quite a few Wonder Woman figures and Dolls displayed, although again these are debatable as to whether they belong in Girls or Boys toys.
Where does the line really draw in some cases. Even in lines like MLP there were boy characters created and bad guys that were running amok. hmmm....

It varies from person to person. The obvious girl toys to me would be Barbies, Strawberry Shortcake, She-Ra, etc. The boy toys would be G.I.Joe, He-Man, Transformers, etc. . I think there is a huge gray area. The Marx Johnny West figures, Mego 8" figures, Wrangler figures, and many others fall into this catagory. I also tend to think of some of the more cartoonish figures as gray area toys, like Ghostbusters, Police Academy, Pirates of Darkwater, Smurfs, etc. .

That is the freakiest thing I have ever seen on here. And man is that ever saying a lot. Wow. Now that definately transates to being both a boy and girls toy. Even the robot version of Celestra has a rack. Cool toy man. Is it yours?

I never was into girl toys. However, I appreciate the Polly Pockets line that my sisters were into. I imagine that my daughter will enjoy it quite a bit.
I will say this, my 2 year old daughter LOVES playing with my MASK collection. The figures are the perfect size for her hands, and she loves taking the helmets off, putting them on, etc, then driving them around in the vehicles. This gives her hours of entertainment every day. I even gave her my extras from lots I purchased, and she plays with them almost every day. So there, you have a girls persepctive.

If you're looking for a girl's perspective, my girls can't get enough of the JLU figures. We don't have cable, so I bought all of the episodes on DVD. Sadly, we are on the last DVD.

One of the reasons I wonder about this type of stuff, (besides being both a Gen. Psych. and Poly. Psych. grad) is because my 5 year old daughter absolutely loves both Marvel and DC characters, memorizes all of them, adores MOTU, GI Joe, Corps, Mask, and everything else I own. I can not keep her out of my toy room, she even has started her own displays and will not let anyone touch them, they have to play from her selected extras box. Her first and true love is Lion-O though. Every time I come onto this site she loves seeing the little Lion-O picture at the top of the screen and teninchers avatar. She is such a boy, and always has been since like 2 years old. At three years she memorized the Lantern Corps chant and started doing her own imitations of He-Man and Lion-O powering up their swords. I wonder what Anna thinks of these questions. Does she still Post on here. I know part of my daughters obsession is based on imprinting with me and part of it is because she has good taste.

Gort you and I must set out to find this elusive creature known only as Celestra Queen of Transforming Dolls. I am so going to obsess over that cheap piece of....Plastic!!!
Is she made by Placo Toys, I can barely see the symbol on the box.

Hey trek, I hear you on Poly, my 12 year old loved her as a small child and her playsets were very intricate. I know she is already collectible with many Female collectors now.

My 2 year old daughter, will end up like your 5 year old, toyboxraider. All my extras go to my daughter, and she loves them. I'm sure part of it that she wants what I have, but she does dig the aliens from Blackstar. She carries around her blackstar figure I gave her as well, and even has a dragon she likes to play with. She digs the transformers I gave her as well. MASK is still the favorite, but she likes looking at all the toys I have on my shelves. I've caught her playing with silverhawks as well, and also some of the Visionaries I have. I will worry more if she gets older and is still playing wiht them, but for now, 2 years old isn't a huge worry for me.
For the chant thing, I got my daughter to memorize all the DC superhero shirts I have. Aquaman, Batman, Green Lantern, and the Flash. FLASH is her favorite. She will pull that one out of my drawer and bring it to me, to put on. For some ridiculous reason, I started teaching her to say "FLASH, AAHHHAAHH!!" If you remember back to the FLASH GORDON movie, where his theme music would kick in, I couldn't get it out of my head one day, and so my daughter now sings the little tune, when she sees my shirt on. Ridiculous, but kids in general love that stuff. I think the gender doesn't matter for cool toys.

Yep, she's by Placo, I did a little digging and it looks as though the line was called 'Celestra' and also included Saturnia, Vulcania and Zarla as other 'transforming dolls' I can't remember where I found that pic but I knew I had to save it. Been waiting ever since for the right opertunity to inflict her on the board. Beware the cheap, crap, oddball lines, they're the ones that'll really bug you ;D Gort you and I must set out to find this elusive creature known only as Celestra Queen of Transforming Dolls. I am so going to obsess over that cheap piece of....Plastic!!! Is she made by Placo Toys, I can barely see the symbol on the box.

Man Gort you are killing me you mean there are more of Celestra's kind out there. Wow.
Trek you are right and man that is awesome that your girl likes what daddy likes, different Flash, but you have a smart daughter if she is already committing so much information to her memory, people do not realize how important it is to build neuro-pathways at that age and you are definately doing this with your figures, shirts of heroes and games. It really is good to be a dad and it does not matter what sex your kid is as long as you and your child are spending time together when you can. Toys have always been a way to unite families. I wonder if that religious nut ever thought about that when he and others were on a witch hunt with our MOTU toys in the 80s.

Care Bear Cartoons were fun as a little kid and yes I might have even owned a few, lol. Care Bears also fall in the gray area, they were cuty fluffy stuff, but not girl only stuff. US Smurf (mostly the animated cartoon version) are more gray than the original Eurpoean ones. They date from the late 1950's as part of a Fantasy comic strip series "Johan & Pirlouit". All the marketing and stuff distilled that aspect. As for me, well, as a big MOTU fan I do enjoy She-Ra and Golden Girl. I always found the later series The Wild One is one of the best Viking chick / barbarian babe figure around: www.thelaironstormisle.com/

I think Playmobils Victorian doll house and sets are up there on my list , next would be Care bears , When I sold toys I noticed that some of my care bear sets kinda just never got sold and hung out on my shelf longer than other girls toys,, the Bad Guy chef from Strawberry shortcake is awesome , I still have him and some of those Goth dolls they have now are kinda cool ,

Some of the Playmobil Victorian dolls house stuff is pretty cool. I've always considered Playmobil to be a somewhat sexless toy but I guess the pink boxes for the Victorian sets hint towards girls.
I have a friend who collects Barbie dolls and some of those are pretty neat. Some of the Collectors series like Star Trek Barbie and Catwoman are impressive and the pink astronaut Barbie looks like she's steped off the set of a 50's B-movie.

does the topic cover female figures or just lines that are marketed for girls. if its the former i could list for days...as could any collector that aims for the complete set. IE. Gargoyles -Eliza Maza, Daemona... GI Joe RAH to many to list... spawn all the angela's,tiffanys, jade, shespawns... but as for the ladder then i have 3 (that come to mind at the moment) star trek Ken & Barbie (i was a trek fan before i had seen trekkies the movie) & a she-ra (beside my heman figures in castle greyskull) my ex took my MAC witchblade figures when she left (no real loss .. in either case )

I originally meant toys that are marketed to females if you are a male and toys that are marketed to males if you are a female, but some of these single figures have been mainly made for girls in mind but cross over easily , like a boy would own the 6 Million Dollar Man and a lot of girls I knew in the neighborhood would have Jamie Summers and her different outfits. I kinda thought both were cool. I also like the Super Barbies like Poison Ivy etc... I can see how a girl would want to play with Scarlet though instead of Duke so if you want to discuss those too go for it, but Scarlet was for everyone I think and especially at that time for boys. So which ever way you want to interepret it is fine man.
