I just posted my first wanted ad on Craigslist. There isn't a whole lot of action on Craigs list here in Baton Rouge, and I have picked up some amazing deals even weeks after ads for Gi Joes, He-man, and other items have posted.
Has anybody ever used a "wanted to buy" add on CL? What type of response(s) did you get?

I post them two or three times a year when my inventory is getting a little low. I have gotten some great stuff from them, but approximately 75% of the replies are nut jobs who think their stuff is gold.
For instance, there was the hillbilly who informed me he had three naked Barbies from the '60s. I quote: "They's the real deal too. It says so on their butts!"

Based on the butt test, every Barbie doll in the 20th century is from the 60s.
I post for the benefit of those who may not know.

I post a "want ad" regularly on Craigslist. More often than I'd like actually, because some asshole (most likely a local dealer) is always flagging it.
Anyway, my best CL score was a huge lot for $500. It was this guy's entire childhood toy collection. I got nearly every Thundercats figure from the first 2 series, 100% complete and also a Tongue-A-Saurus. Tons of MOTU including 100% complete Clamp Champ, King Randor and others. It was multiple boxes of a little bit of everything.
I got a bunch of 60's Barbie clothing and accessories from a local guy for only $20. I ended up making over $300 on it all.
I also use CL to seek out local yard sales and found lots of good stuff that way.
There has also been a lot of time wasters and jerks though. Like recently, a woman posted a complete set of MIB Mego Kiss figures for $300. I agreed to buy them, we set up a time to meet and she was a no show. After a million calls her daughter picked up and accused me of being the no show and had some nonsense story. When I got home, I found an email sent earlier with a totally different story/excuse. I was fuming pissed.
Also another guy called telling me about selling his collection, mentioned Bengali from TC and other stuff. He told me to call him back in 10 minutes and from that point on, he never picked up his phone again.

With all the recent nonsense, I am almost certain a local dealer is screwing around with me.
