I gave away a bunch this weekend after my yard sale. I was going to give them to one of the thrift stores I visit often, but my dad decided to give them to his friend in our town who has a yard sale pretty much every day of the week. Nothing great, some McDonalds toys and modern figures I've gotten in lots (late 90s WWF things).
I was just sitting on them for wayyy too long and they weren't worth the time to sell online.
Anyone do this? What do resellers do with toys they don't like/want to sell? Trade bait is OK, but not after a year! got to clean the clutter out sometime.

Yes, at this last Christmas I gave away a bunch of new toys to Toys for Tots and the wish tree. Some Pixar Cars (all still in nice packages), Hot wheels, a few JLU's, a bunch of other things. Feels good knowing a kid will enjoy them. I probably donated around 20-30 items,

I love giving away toys.........anytime I have friends over they always leave with a PEZ dispenser. And when I buy lots, I pick through what I want and usually give people who come over the extras if the toys arent crazy beat up...its fun for me, but i think some of our friends just think im a huge nerd!!!

We donated a lot of vintage little people stuff to my son's school. Over the years the school had lost all the figures and accessories. We had lots of extras that we were going to sell, but decided the kids would get more joy than a collector.

I use to give away some Star Wars toys to a friends kid who love Star Wars, I also gave him a big cardboard 80s movie thing, one of those in theaters, it was boba and han in real size. Very cool but it took to much space, the kid was in hyper mode over it.

Some line I like I sometimes tell myself a kid would more appreciate them; I did part that way to many superheroes figure and newer Star Wars stuff. Some of those types ended up on the local Salvation army and Value Village; it make some room and can make a child happy, so that's a win-win!

I only got vintage though. if I had been able to have one of those large theater cardboards as a kid I would probably been going nuts too, It's always nice to make someone else happy, especially kids. I try not to give away to rare stuff though it's doubles and a bit worse condition figures that goes his way.

yea, i do! especially when i get a big mixed box lot from a yard sale or something, alot of the times i separate all the scratch and dent stuff and give it away to my freinds kids to tear up. They dont mind if a toy has excessive paint wear or is missing a hand lol.

Definitely. Sometimes it's not worth the hassle to trade/list something you don't love when you'll only make a few bucks anyway. Dump it in the op-shop bin. It's a blessing to lighten the load sometimes. Plus you'll make some kid or collectors day. Op-shop/thrift stores have been totally two-way for me for years (not jus' figs either).

Yup! I often donate toys to Goodwill or Toys for Tots. Or if it's something really cool I'll give it to my brother in law who likes to collect a few figures.

Come to think of it I also gave a bag o' figs to some friends of mine, Bravestarrs, Robocop KOs, '90s DC stuff etc. They don't collect, and it was refreshing fun light heartedly discussin' the figures for what they are instead of over-analysing due to the tunnel vision myself and all collectors are subject to sometimes.

I still don't no why I did it to this day, but, I gave my scumbag cousin Rolling Thunder (even though I was still collecting GI Joe and continued to after!!). I knew he didn't look after any of his own stuff (I remember him even trashing and losing some of my stuff in the back garden!). Years later he said he sat on it and used it to ride down a hill. It still plays on my mind today.

I gave away my entire collection of toys as a kid (around age 14) to my cousins. It included: G1 Transformers, thundercats, tons of gi joes with the defiant and rolling thunder included, almost the entire ghostbusters run with the firehouse playset also. I think there was a ton of ninja turtles figures also.
But recently, I sold my entire POTF2 collection like 5 years ago for about 20.00. It has everything from the 90's till then. Literally like every figure hasbro/kenner had produced for the toyline. That was pretty close to giving it away I'd say.
