the recent "what else do you collect" thread in the Other Toy Talk section got me thinking about this. I have a few collections that other people have built for me. For example, I have a box full of Pez. At least 100 dispensers. I don't believe i have ever bought a pez dispenser except when i was a kid, and once the candy was gone the dispenser was discarded. Apparently, being a toy collector is a sign for relatives to give me pez dispensers. my aunt is a bartender. there isn't a demand for pabst blue ribbon amongst the locals. but since i started dropping in on occassion, that has always been my "bar beer" of choice. they now keep some on hand for my visits. for the past 10 years or so she has been collecting beer products for me. it started as storage room pabst blue ribbon goblets, ash trays, coasters, and various glassware from the bar. in addition, she is a dedicated auction goer, and her collecting beer things for me has expanded well beyond the boarders of just pbr stuff. its probably the coolest collection i have that i have not actively participated in the obtaining of.....just wish she fell upon some more hamm's bear stuff. anyone else have collections like this?

I do have a collection of Dollarama cats my mother bought one by one for me about fifteen years ago. Those cats are made of rubber, with transparent hard plastic eyeballs through which we see printed realistic feline iris and pupil. She has the whole line for herself, while I heritated of her doubles. So, yes, I have a collection someone else made for me.

My grandma used to buy barbie stuff for me when she bought for my sister... her intentions where good but I would probably been happier with something else.

Eh, my stepfather used to collect those lil' triangular flags for me. Nice idea but not my thing, most of them related to scouts, he was a scout leader whatchacallit... I wasn't as enthusiastic about scouts as he was. Probably cos there's no badge for completing Ninjor or speaking Huttese. C'mon you can only tie so many knots and toast so many marshmallows before you wanna' head home and play with yer figures.
