What are your favorite Cobra Troop types (not individuals ie:- Cobra Commander, Zartan, Destro etc).
It's tough but my choice is:-
Snow Serpents B.A.T.S Alley Vipers Night Vipers Hydro Vipers
Eels, Range Vipers (always liked that skull helmet) and the new Cobra Shock Troops deserve a mention also. Give reasons if you want!!

Yeah, the classics are really cool. I never had an original Cobra Trooper, but Cobra Officer was the 1st GI Joe (Action Force over here in the UK!!) figure I ever had. Red Shadows were cool also- even though they were Action Force not proper GI Joe.

mine are:
cobra soldier b.a.t.s. eels toxic vipers vipers
bats have always been my favorite. i love the fact that they come with four choices of hands and they can change them and store the others in their backpack. one of the best figures ever.
i like the crimson guard but them seemed ordinary...just nothing that strikes me as really cool.

Cobra Trooper, B.A.T.S, Snow Serpent, EELS, CRIMSON GUARD
All the above are version 1's-none of the updates. However, as the Snow Serpents are the Arctic cadre of the EELs you could say I've made 4 choices so far, if thats the case then perhaps I'd also add ASTRO VIPER-he was one of the first Vipers I ever owned and I liked the jet pack with dual lazers they had! I did think of choosing VIPERS but they're simply the Infantry backbone of Cobra-so one rank up from Cobra Troopers, then I thought of choosing TELE VIPERS as they are the very first of the VIPERS....

Desert Crimson Guards Vipers Stinger Drivers B.A.T.S. Cobra Soldiers (Troopers)
I do have a pretty large Royal Guard army ;D, but I think they fall under the Cobra La bracket, not officially Cobra Troopers.

Royal Guards are awsome I could never find the figure (and never new there was one for years) over here in the UK, the figure was cool and they were nails in the movie cartoon!!

I don't collect Joes no more, but have the Cobra la trio, so gonna go with - Royal Guard B.A.T.S Original Viper Hydro-viper aaand... Toxo-zombie. I know, TZombie came out during that horrible 90s colour phase, so I probably dig the concept more than the actual figure.

Thinking about Cobra La, did you all know that originally Hasbro planned for the A.G.P. pilot Nullifier to be a Cobra La soldier for an unproduced bike. I've even seen concept art for it called the Cobra La 'Insecticycle' which was a 2 wheel bike which fully concealed the rider, think a cross between a TRON Light Cycle and Centurions Jake Rockwells Wild Weasel in shape but with insect like armour all over it...Had the 1987 animated movie been released at the cinemas and had Cobra La as a sub team/sub theme done well it appeared Hasbro would have expanded on it and made more items.... Heres the link if no ones ever seen it: www.yojoe.com/archive/unproduced/insecticycle.shtml

The sculpting sheet and presentation art are sadly unavailable for public viewing as they are in private hands.

Anyhow, even if I didn't its logical that as Cobra La wasn't going to be pushed further since the film went straight to video with the figure already at pre-production stage rather than waste it they mixed him into the IG sub team, I expect then that the IG range may have taken the place of what could have been a large Cobra La range i.e. instead of bio mechanical weirdness they decided to go all hi tech with the IG's.

i was always into the toys. i remember me and all my friends going crazy when the joe line first came out, at that time we had no idea about a comic or a cartoon. and thats how i always viewed the joes as toys. i never cared what the cartoon or comics said i only cared who i thought looked cool.
and really the only ones i thought looked cool were mostly the earlier troops. the blue shirts. the rattler driver, wild weasel. the hiss driver. and the crimson guard.
now my favorite and i dont know why was the stinger driver. just the regular blue shirt except in that light grey. i LOVED that figure.
i also have to say i envy the foreign guys because some of those early action force guys were REALLY cool.
