I only have a few new ones, an energon combiner, an alternator and the anniversary optimus. I just can't believe how many steps there are now. And with it all in plastic, it seems you are gonna break em. Anyone else think it used to be way easier to transform with the G1 series?

I bought my son a few when RID came out. I agree completely. Theres no way a small kid could transform some of these.

I think the new ones are just boring honestly. They did the new alternators line to kinds cater to G1 fans, but they just don't have the lasting appeal since they are all cars.
I dunno why they don' t just make new versions of all the G1 stuff but in the quality of the anniversary optimus. Thats probably the only transformers toys I've enjoyed for over 12 years.

I still have difficulty Transformering some of the G1 figures, even when referring to their instruction booklets

instruction booklets are there to confuse you and piss you off i never use the booklet. i dont too much trouble with the newer stuff but i had a bitch of time for a while with beast machnes cheetor. i couldnt return him to cheetah mode for a while but after a week of ignoring it i suddenly knew how to do it like the colors of the wind. ...oh wait is a pocahantus reference out of place in transformers

Id have to say a pochahontas refference is out of place anywhere dude. but i agree about the instructions, have you noticed alot of the stuff in the booklets is outright WRONG! for the alternators line some of the stuff they tell you in the booklet will make you break something off your figure! and for those of us who are adults now and not kids, breaking plastic is way too easy for my taste (especialy since i pay for these things myself now) it also doesnt help that the instructions are only diagrams with no text thanks to the tri lingual packaging. instead of printing in all three languages they simply exise all words and have vauge pictures with red or purple arrows going everywhich way. well gee that clears everythign RIGHT up.
to this day i cant transform my beast wars tigerhawk, he stands in my collection in robot mode ne're or return to his winged tiger mode for arial dogfights with silverbolt.

The Alternators\Binaltech are "beyond-impossible-to-transform-withouth-popup-pieces" difficult

i agree the alts are retarded sometimes. like grimlock i popped his hood off like 10 times. i wanted to smash him. its not that they are hard its that they arent giving enough room sometimes.

I buy one Alternator to keep in car mode and have my friend transform the other one into robot so it avoids tantrums on my part.
