Hi everybody, great dragon, i have the blue one, the quest for the other one is open ! I actually just picked up the green one yesterday and now the search is on for the blue one. Saw the green one a few weeks ago at a flea market for 10.00... didn't buy it, and wished I did. I thought for sure when I went back for it yesterday it would be gone but it was there and I bought it. These things are awesome! Here's some pics of mine.

I found the blue companion piece for my green dragon creature on ebay, it was listed as an Imperial Dragon... which it isn't, the only markings are made in Hong Kong. I'm super excited about finding this! I Love It!

Congrats, I regret selling my two dragons. They made awesome mounts for Remco's Secret of the Ninja line.

Congrats, I regret selling my two dragons. They made awesome mounts for Remco's Secret of the Ninja line. Do you know if this line made any other dragons? Someone mentioned there might be a red one as well. There isn't much information about these out there.

Like I said earlier, these are NOT DRAGONS. The blue one is a PIXIU and the green one is a QI-LIN. The Pixiu is related to Feng-Shui and the Qi-Lin represents the male-female polarity, as well as the Center; Dragon (called Long) represents the East, the Feng-Huang (chinese phoenix) the South, the White Tiger the West and the Black Tortoise the North. I talk all about it in my previous post. I even put new pictures because the ones I had posted back then didn't show anymore. We have to remember that not all asian fantasy animals are dragons; even though they have similar features, they are different from each other. The Dragon (Long), is one, the Qi-Lin is another and the Pixiu is another. And there are more. First, the Feng-Huang. It is also known as the Chinese Phoenix, though this one has no link with fire. The Feng-Huang (its name means "Yellow Wind"), is a fantasy bird which's plumage is made with every bird's most desirable feathers. Its singing, which is the most melodious bird singing in the world, is made only with five notes. Second, the Shisa. Shisas always come in pairs: the male on the right, the female on the left. Shisas are creatures that are half lion, half dog. They are guardians. The male keeps his mouth open to let go the bad spirits outside; the female keeps her mouth shut to keep the happiness inside.

Thanks bowheadwhale for all the information on these cool creatures. I wish there was more information out there about these toys. I'd love to see one with a tag on it like you often see on Imperial dinosaurs and creatures. I've since picked up one more of each. I currently have two of the green and one of the blue with another one on the way. Here's my new addition Here it is with my blue one and here's my group of three

After some searching I found a page scan from an old Archie McPhee catalog that has these listed as item # 8623 Mythological Monsters. It only shows these two, but says they're available in assorted colors. The pair cost 19.50 back in the day.

I started this facebook page in hopes of getting some more information about these awesome figures. feel free to like the page! On the facebook page I have some pics of the blue figure with white highlights instead of the darker blue air brushed highlights. I'm unsure whether its a custom or whether they were painted in different color schemes at the factory.www.facebook.com/Chinese-Rubber-Foo-Dogs-1296236687059505/timeline/

I have tried to find them on EBay, but I couldn't find them anywhere. I tried "Pixiu" and "Qi-Lin", but none of those toys would appear in the listings (I did find an awesome brass qi-lin, though). What key words should I write in the Ebay "search" rectangle so these fabulous toys appear in the listings?

What key words should I write in the Ebay "search" rectangle so these fabulous toys appear in the listings? You gotta dumb down your search... most people that sell these on ebay have know idea what they are, and will most often list them as dragons. I honestly had no idea what they were until you enlightened me actually.Throw the words pixiu and qu-lin out the window and search for dragons instead. The first one I found on ebay was listed as an imperial dragon. I have had good results with "Hong Kong Dragon" "rubber dragon" "Rubber Foo Dog" & "luck dragon" I've been on a bit of a dry spell since my last ebay find but I keep looking for the mysterious Red Foo Dog.

OK, I got it. I just went on EBay using the key words you suggested, but I wasn't Lucky, yet. However, I will keep searching with those key words, and maybe someday I will see one appear. Thanks. However, I find it hard to belive I'm the only one in North America who knows what a Pixiu and what a Qi-Lin are...
