I don't have a complete collection yet and am missing a few figures and most of the playsets. I have been looking on Ebay for these figures and there aren't many of them around anymore. Anyone else collect Crystar, the Lava and Crystal Dragons are the coolest! Check out the Crystar figure gallery on the main site here www.action-figures.ca/crystar.htm

I have a carded Zardeth, Ogeode, Moltar and Magic of Crystal set. I feel your pain in not being able to find them. I've been searching for a decent Crystar, Warbow and Feldspar for a while now with no luck. I did find a guy that had several carded figures for sale, but wants 30-50 per figure which is a little steep.

I am dying to recollect this line. I have a few figs and parts but want a pristeen set of these. I found a website that had the castle playset but they won't email me back......i love that piece.
There isn't much on ebay....i rarely see a complete crystar himself.

I think the best way to get the items I am missing is to bid on a lot of stuff when it does show on Ebay and trade/sell what I don't need. I would even split an auction with someone who could use some of the stuff I already have. This way we wouldn't be bidding against each other.

Well, it looks like I won the Shatterpult. I wasn't going to bid against anyone on these boards, but I checked the auction later, and somebody had already topped Jason's bid. It will have a good home

My Crystar lot off Ebay that I won just arrived. I have an extra complete Zardeth and a near complete Feldspar to trade off if anyone needs. I can't wait for the Shatterpult to arrive.

I just got the Shatterpult in the mail yestersay. It is one awesome toy. I will get a pic of it up on the main site this weekend. Now if I could only get the 2 Dragons. I actually have the Crystal Dragon, but he is missing everything including his wings. It will be easier just buying another complete one than finding those parts. I have a few spare figures to trade off so check out my trade list (link is in my signature).

Here are some clearer pics of the Castle : So a mini Review : The Box is great and has some wonderful pics of the prototype and how nice this thing must have been fresh from the box back in '82. The Castle itself is made from a thin plastic like that of really thin brittle ice cube tray. But, to my surprise. It is fairly sturdy and look like it could withstand alot of rough play. Aside from falling on top of it. The Floor and other inserts are made of cardboard with fun crystal designs on it. The ones I got have been used and show a bit of wear. Some are warped out of shape and are gonna require some love and care to restore their glory. It would be great to get a sealed box so that the inserts and floor had not been pplayed with so the corners and edges where you have to bend the cardboard could be nice and sharp. The Castle comes with lots of fun stuff you see in the pics like the sweet ladder and hoist rope set. Some of the stickers were missing but 1 trip to michael's and they are easily replaced. It looks great with figs and what can I say and not sound like an ass......get one as soon as you find a decent example. Just be careful of the cardboard piece. At least you don't have to worry about me bidding this piece up all the time on ebay. ::)HAHAHAHA!!!!!! Anyways. This is a great small line that has some rare fun pieces.

10incher, how much did you end up paying for your shatterpult? I found one online, but I'm not sure if I want to pay what the guy wants for it.

I don't collect Crystar, but when I saw the Crystar figure I realized that I had that as a kid and LOVED it. Unlocked a memory I completely forgot about for decades. I'm dying to get a mint, loose, complete Crystar only.

I would have to say between $40 or $50 each based on the last one that sold on Ebay. Depends if they are complete and the condition as well.

All I need is the Crystal Castle and my Crystar collection is complete! Glad to hear it 10 Incher! For my part I started collecting back (as I used to have some as a kid) Crystar last year, and now I have a fairly complete basic set. I don't aim for the castle and dragons, just the basic figure. I only miss some accessories. I bought many vintage Star wars lately so the hunt is quiet on Crystar for now (need to have the wallet breathe a bit), but I plan to hunt these remaining items in the near future.

I finally got my Lava Dragon in the mail today. I had the rider and his weapon for a while. He looked pretty funny leaning against the shelf all bow-legged!

I was finally able to get some good pics on the aArchive of my Crystal Castle: www.action-figures.ca/crystar.htmToyfare had contacted me fore some pics in an upcoming issue so I opened and set everything up. Turnbolt, the small cardboard piece that slides into the bottom of each of the two carboard battlement walls, do you have a pic of what it looks like on its own? Mine don't seem to be sitting in flush and am wondering if I am using the same pieces for it? They are the center pieces that popped out of each of the wall cardboards when you fold them up, right?

Crystar has always interested me even though neither the comic nor toys were overly successful. Some people I have encountered think he had his own cartoon,I think because of the animated commercials for the toys. I would like to get a complete Crystar collection eventually. I have seen a few non-figure or comic collectibles of Crystar such as a coloring books,a target set, stickers, etc so I think they were betting the whole thing would take off but obviously it never did. Wouldn't a modern re-launch blow the top off of things,as far as the secondary market for the Remco toys? I wouldn't mind seeing some new figures made of Crystar,as well as new Clash Of The Titans and D&D figures.

Does anyone else have this figure and/or know how it was marketed?: In the Crystar comic, issue #1 is the only time the characters look like the action figures. According to that comic, the crystal warrior with the blue helmet and clothes is Captain Stalax (and the warrior with a purple helmet and clothes is Captain Kalibar and the warrior with the green helmet and clothes is Captain Koth). In subsequent issues, the characters look drasticly different, the characters become more fleshed out and they look like regular people who are crystal in color and shiny, rather than rigid crystal. Crystar and Stalax maintain their clothing type and color throughout the comic, while Koth and Kalibar add layers of clothes, and begining with issue #4 Koth is also wearing a shade of purple instead of green. There is no DragonFly character, all of the characters just ride the dragons themselves. (DragonFly is the figure that comes with the Crystal Dragon toy). I think this figure is really cool because DragonFly was always my favorite Crystar figure when I was a kid (I think because of his color scheme and that he just looks the slickest in my opinion) and I always wished there was an articulated one. This figure is basically an articulated version of DragonFly. Although DragonFly is also cool because he has a solid torso (rather than a hollow one) that makes light glow inside and he has a good weight to him. Here is the Captain Stalax figure alongside my childhood collection DragonFly figure: I'm guessing this Captain Stalax figure was a mail away offer, but the offer is not in any of the Crystar comics, so it would have had to appear somewhere else. I recently saw an auction for the green accented crystal warrior (Koth) in a sealed baggie and the auction called it a mail away figure. So that is some evidence that there may have been a mail away offer to purge some of Remco's extra stock. But I obviously can't verify that that figure wasn't just sealed in that baggie recently. I've been aware of this Stalax figure in loose form since an earlier Crystar collecting stint I had in around 2002. I also have a vague recollection of seeing it packaged on the Battle Set weapons pack alternatively to the purple accented figure (Kalibar) or on the Catapult Set weapons pack alternatively to the green accented figure (Koth) in that 2002 time frame. But that is just a vague notion so I could be making it up. Does anyone else have any information as to the origin of this figure?

As for the in-universe story of the charcter, the Captain Stalax angle seems most likely; You're knowledge of the comics surpass mine. As fot the figure itself it look like one of the 2 figure included in a Crystar Warrior Battle Set or catapult, not unlike the Wizard set packed with lots of accessories. More info on the 3 3/4 archive: www.toymania.com/334archives/crystar/other.htmThe color seems different, but this may be a variant.

Really nice collection Shup, I like the way that you used those clear sports card boxes, it gives it a real uncluttered look.

I came across that figure myself not to long ago, sadly it was loose in a lot with some other stuff so can't say for sure what set its exactlly from. My best guess is that its a variant for one of the smaller figure sets or foreign Crystal Dragon (as Shup mentioned).
