I think I have a vague souvenir of seeing them on the toy shelf in my youth, but I may be mistaking with other Galaxy Warrior or MOTU look-alike.
Never heard of the name, it’s a weird one even for a knock-off line. Is it in the sense of man-animal combo, Fantasy and Sci-Fi or simply no apparent reason?

They pop up on ebay every once in awhile. They're from around 85-86 and that's the whole set.

After taking a better look at the info on this site I now think I solved my own riddle, e-man is a combo and satana a combo fighters figure (looking at the cardback pictures), well I'll complete satana with a gw axe and shield (from my spare parts bag) these figs also came with those weapons I presume. Catch ya guys later

these figures were made in just about every limb option and body swaps from every single knockoff fantasy line. all released under some version of the combo name.

Anyone? The pic is from the auction I won it from so it's not that big, but the left side of his face looks melted in the pic but really it's supposed to show half a skull. I think I see some old traces of white and black paint on the skull side of the face so it may have been painted like a skull back in the day. Is this figure from an old Remco line? Sorta looks like it could.

Just found out that he's a Combo Hero thanks to Chad's post in the "MOTU knock off figure thread". He's the one on the left, but I notice that the one I got comes with the wrong accessories. Does anyone know what figure they're supposed to come with and does anyone know his name?

Here's a pic of my Combo MOC collection (missing only Unicorna). I also have most of these guys loose in different color variations, with green or dark skin. There vests came in various colors as well, red, orange, blue, black, etc.

There vests came in various colors as well, red, orange, blue, black, etc. I also have Combos from this perticular release which is the crappiest in my opinion. Check out their hands 10 and you'll see what I mean. It was like this at the factory: "Aw, whatever..."

I actually own a few Combo guys in that body style...apparently there are several styles of body construction for those characters...I hate to be such a vulture, but I just posted a want/trade list not too long ago...if you want anything lemme know...my current E.Man looks too short compared to my MotU guys...I wanted the more "loud and proud" body sculpt! Good luck finding any concrete info an history...I'm still looking! Other than some mentions in posts on this site, it's seems to be slim pickins in the research department...can anyone please prove me wrong?! I'll post a small showcase with examples of the body types I've come across if you are interested...just gotta dig out the figures and borrow a camera again!

Was thinking about this line while strolling outside one day...freezing my butt off no less...what year was it made/released? Anyone have a concrete answer? Just wondering 'cause I have a crazy theory about these guys. Okay, I always wondered why they were called Combo. One, I assumed the line was named after the character of Combo. Two, I've seen these in two packs (combo packs). I'm starting to think this line was just a bunch of 80s characters lumped into one knock off toy line and given fantasy warrior bodies. Combo looks like Rambo (even the names sound similar). Mr. X looks like a Mister T ripoff. Hulka kinda reminds me of a mogwai from the Gremlins movie and Leopard kinda looks like an earless gremlin himself! Robo may just be a Terminator ripoff. The other guys...not sure...maybe other 80s pop culture references/homages? Any thoughts or input? Kind of a hare-brained theory, but hey...may be true for all I know. Then there's the odd case of the nameless ape man who clearly looks like a Planet of the Apes guy and don't get me started on that "cowardly lion" guy either!

Now I'm totally confused, I'm guessing my Robo is from the "Combo" series and my Birdman is from the "Combo Warriors" series.

Cool! Now it's going to be a challenge learning about these guys. I'll keep my eyes open too and see if I find anything online. Hi guys, I accidentally ran across your forum while doing some Googling on some weird figures, and it looks like you all have already answered some of my questions. I can add a little info on these cheapo knock-offs. I worked at K*B Toys years ago and we always got stuff that was probably unsellable anyplace else. We ended up with a case that included some of the "Combo Hero" figures (though with different cards than the ones pictured), along with some others from the same company. Not long after I shelved them all we got a memo from the corp. telling us to pull, and destroy, all of them immediately because they were unlicensed bootlegs. Along with the "Combo Hero"s were some other series that were just as shoddy as these. My guess is that Marvel Comics probably went after them because the "Uncanny Master" set had some atrocious X-Men bootlegs, and used a Magneto graphic on the cards. The other sets in the case were; "The Devil Warriors", "Ninja Commandos", and "Insect Man". I hope that helps a little.

All those beautiful sets and did you destroy them? or did you save them man its such a shame if these great toys got canned We were told to take them out to the dumpster, tear them off the cards, and rend them limb from limb. Maybe it was too hot to go out to the dumpster, or I might have been too lazy that day, but I just couldn't bear seeing them wrecked. I'll take some pics later today and figure out how to post them.

"Ninja Commandos", and card back. The guy on the upper left does not have a blank face, his head is turned backward.

"Insect Man" The card backs are blank. The loose figure is one that I popped off the card before I realized there was no way I could follow orders and trash them.

"Uncanny Master"s. These are the ones that I *think* were the reason we got the "pull and destroy ASAP" memo because they are blatant, but cruddy, X-Men knock-offs, using Marvel artwork on the cards.

"The Devil Warriors". Blank card backs. If these were done by a decent sculptor they would be a great set. I hope the info, and pics, helps fill in a few gaps in what's known about these things. I split the stash with a coworker so there were about half as many more than all of these in the case.

At the time I got paranoid that maybe the K*B Kops were going to bust me if they found out that I rescued them. When I found out that all other stores in our area actually *did* destroy them I kept my mouth shut and tucked them away. Now I am wondering if I can track down my old coworker and see if he still has his half of the case... They are all pretty cool in their own hokey way. The wannabe X-men are pretty funny because any kid worth their salt would have given their parents hell if they had have bought them one of these instead of a real one.
