Does anyone know what the torsos for these figures are cast from? The arms and legs of the bad guys seem to be Blackstar, but I'm not sure about the torsos.

I finally got a Tiamat figures thanks to Flanders; he gave me a lead that paid off. Here is a picture of my collection:

NICE collection. all the tiamets i've seen in the wild are always missing that cloth accessory. Only know of two that are public, there is one on flickr and a guy i trade with in europe had one.
do you have the two mounts and castle too?

I have a quick question about "knock-off" lines in general. What were the primary retail outlets for these types of figures? I grew up in the 80s, was a toy fanatic ('natch), and I'm certain these lines weren't availible at your standard box stores like K-Mart, Gold Circle, Hills etc., and I can't recall ever seeing them at Kay-Bee or Children's Palace. I know my friend Jason and I used to get knock-off toys at the flea market all the time, but I assume these lines were mostly sold at retail. Drug and grocery stores maybe?

I got all my galaxy warriors at drug stores and thru mail order only catalogs. Never seen defenders of the planets anywhere though.

The line in this thread was only available in Italy. As for knock offs in general, they could be found anywhere, even toys r us and Kay bee. Usually though they'd be found at mom and pop stores and supermarkets.

Awesome, thanks for the answers rocklord74 and sharpfork.
I used to pick up knock-off G.I. Joes at local drug stores all the time, so I figured that was one source.

Does anyone have any pictures of The Rock unboxed and set up? I saw a somewhat obscured picture of one in a Facebook toy group and it looks very cool.
