They're cool allright, it's a real shame that ( at least, I get that impression) these were never released in the Netherlands so the only way for me to get them is through online trading with overseas folk.

Recent find in a big box of random dinosaur figures: a Fire Dragon. I'm extatic that I've managed to happen upon one of these in the wild. Goes to show, you never can tell what you'll run across on a flea market.

Warrior Beasts are pretty common enough for you get a good trade . Also not to mention you got the toughest one with a legit pelt. I'm sure a lot of the people here in the U.S would say that the Netherlands does pretty well for itself with X-changers and odd galaxy style pieces that leave us here in the U.S shaking our fists in bitter rage . I would gladly trade my extra beasts for previous stated and dandy Hasbro WWF knock offs However I thought Otaking dried you guys out on everything.

The Netherlands is a big collection of thousands of small villages and they ALL had knockoffs in their stores at one point Otaking's hunting grounds are an entirely different area than mine are, plus he bought most of his stuff by impatiently bidding on foreign Ebay lots anyway, I thought.

Since I never read Warlord, I also rather thought the Warrior Beasts were just some humanoid monsters slapped together. I wa quite surprised when I read this month's Suicide Squad which takes place in Skartaris, the lost world of the Warlord, and encountered this guy who looks a lot like Guana:

The Fire Dragon sets can be tough to find. I was finally able to pick up a boxed red version of Ramar and the Fire Dragon from an overseas seller earlier this year. Got him at a pretty good price, don't remember exactlly what, but I think it was under $100 for the boxed set.

I think I read somewhere that the mold for the head for Wolf Warrior was originally intended to be Ookla the Mok from the never produced Thundarr the Barbarian line.

I took this picture from an old hardcover Tomart's Price Guide from 1990. I thought I'd share it since I have never seen anything else about it anywhere. I don't even know if it was ever sold. Anybody have any info on it? I have drooled over this single photo for years---definitly at the top of my wish list!

Cool castle indeed! Ramdog79, if you could repost this in a new thread in the MOTU & Fantasy section labeled Galaxie Girls, that would be great as this is the Warrior Beasts thread. Thanks.

Oh---- the GG caption at the top has nothing to do with the castle! It's just coincidence that that is how the book page is arranged and my camera unconveniently took a misleading pic!
The caption for the castle is "Fortress of Doom (Remco) 1984; The Fortress of Doom was a castle playset designed for Remco fantasy figures."
Sorry, I should have clarified that in my origional post!

The picture and the entry I wrote word for word in quotes in my second post is all the info I have on it. Tomart's says it was made by Remco through implication. ie. the entries for all the toylines in the book start with the name of the series followed by the manufacturers name in paranthesis followed by year of release. For example: "Masters of the Universe (Mattel) 1981". So, it was definitly made by Remco for Remco figures.
As for picture sources-none given. I would assume either a catalog or some promotional picture. None of the pictures in the book are from open personal collections. They are all either pictures of carded/boxed items or from catalog/promotional pictures.

Ahh yes, sorry man, if I would have looked a little harder, would've seen all the Remco figures in the pic! I wonder if it was in fact designed for a particular line or if it was just a general "one-shot" playset? Remco didn't normally release single items without including it in a figure line.

Are there more variants like Skullman's belt? And does anyone have a spare head to match Ramar's (at least I think it's Ramar) body?

And does anyone have a spare head to match Ramar's (at least I think it's Ramar) body? It actually is just from a Guana: lsh.0catch.com/grell/lwow.htmEDIT: I just noticed the lighter body of the headless one and it could still be ramar just like you said.................. difficult anyone else got a better insight?

Wish I could help out here, though Ramar is one of the few figures I am still missing. From a pic I have of the two figures, they look to have the exact bodies???

I've never seen that Skullman belt variation before. There is the small head/hooded Skullman. I don't know if that counts as a variation, though.

Almost all the Remco figures have a waste variant. I haven't looked through mine yet to see if I have the Skullman though. I also have some hair color variants with the Conans and a lot of wrist gauntlet variants. The other varian is the tail on the Snake-man and hair on Mikola, stripe, no strip, black , brown its a mess.

Cool belt variant on Skullman, thought I saw that belt (the one on the left) on a Skullface once? Meaty and Shuptrine might know.

Well I finally snagged a Skullface which I have been after for a looong time, and it just so happens it is a version with a variant cape.
Now that's a Pirates of the Galaxseas Ribs cape on him you say? Well after finally getting him in hand and comparing him to my Ribs and Skullman, I am pretty sure that this Skullface originally came with this cape. Putting the 3 figures side by side, the Skullface cape is just a shade lighter than the other two and it matches his belt and gauntlets which are also a lighter shade than Skullman's. I will try and post some comparison pics tomorrow

I will try and post some comparison pics tomorrow Well thats a good theory but Remco was well known for using whatever material they could find to make the capes and other articles of clothing. I have Pegleg with 3 or 4 different shirts and AWA guys with different material to make the clothes as well. I have had 5 or 6 Skullmen at a time and 3 have had different capes as far as one having texture , one being shiny and smooth and the cut of the cape itself. They also all had diff color paints to a degree. The same can be said for the Ribs and Bones sashes some were a heavy vinyl and some were a cheaper thinner vinyl. It does look better but if anything I think Remco may have slapped it on to get it out the door . I was gonna bid on it just because it looked cool and maybe I could have made you pay more in hind site since thats what collectors do ;D. I would have to call it a " happy accident " though. I'll check with Messiah , he or Shuptrine have seen a carded version so they can shed some light . I wish I had pulled the capes off on these or laid them out but 2 of the 3 on these were even cut different. Remco did what they had to do to get it done . Hey.. your peanut butter is in my chocolate . Happy accident , IMO.

chad. dont be a mark. skullface came with standard red cape 99% of the time and what was intended. ive seen and held this on card with normal cape. remco is well known for cutting corners and using whats at hand. using a ribs cape only dictates that this figures was released during the run of pirates. same as those skullmen with conan wiasts that doesnt make it the correct version but rather further suppports the random irregularity of the companies behavior.
