While the idea of making new versions of past toy lines is nothing new, I have noticed Star Wars and Ghostbusters have been released with figures that are basically verbatim copies of the original figures. Personally I feel like if these sold well enough to gain traction I would be all in on seeing other exacting replicas of old toy lines and I can't help but wonder if it would be a shot in the arm to the action figure industry. Can't sell people brand new figures, even with the vintage properties? Why not try to sell the old vintage toys again newly made? I would definitely be on board for buying replicas of LJN's D&D figures since a lot of the originals are never going to be attainable for me. What do any of you think?

I feel like there's a lot of stuff not worth revisiting. They don't need to bring back Snailiens or any of the other last 35 TMNT-inspired anthropomorphic wacky animal action hero cash-ins of the 90s.
I wish if they do something like D&D they keep those bright colors from the 80s. Seems like figures get more muted colors in these newfangled times.
MASK would be an amazing comeback line because they could never do the franchise any justice in larger scales and honestly I would not want updates. The designs are firmly rooted in 1985's vision of high tech with vehicles contemporary with the era and the box artwork is pretty iconic too. Dino Riders likewise... maybe moreso. I heard some rumblings of Dino Riders a couple times over the past few years, that would be a perfect way to do it. I wonder if Mattel or Hasbro have the molds for those respective lines still? And now that I'm thinking about it, might be a longshot that LJN molds still exist. I know a lotta folks would be down for Tcats retro figs.

They would have to tread carefully on what properties to bring back. There are certain properties you would think would be cash cows for certain companies but you never know.

This is a weird tie-in, but McFarlane recently did this kickstarter to do a modern update of the original Spawn finally after all these years and it blew way, way, way past their goal... where the hell were all these backer people when I was selling my old Spawn figures on ebay for 1 bid 99 cent auctions? I truly did not think it was that popular a series, honestly even when it was at its peak popularity. But could they do something that successful for like Bugmen of Insecta? Someone please try.

Or Dragonriders Of The Styx.

Too many cool 3.75" lines from the late 70s/early 80s... Black Hole, Buck Rogers, ST:TMP, oh sure, DRAGONRIDERS... could they make us a new Battlestar Cylon that has like normal straight appendages and not those awful preposed ones also? And please, vac metal not parts molded in some swirly silver plastic. Pretty please.

If Hasbro makes C3P0 and Death Star Droid in the Retro Collection and wimp out and don't vac metallize them I wouldn't be a very happy camper. I got turned off on the 6 inch Star Wars figures partially because they gave the C3P0 the molded in a dull gold colored plastic treatment. That and the farm boy Luke's face paint job and his outfit. They should have went with the sculpted outfit instead of the soft goods, imo.

Doing figures in the brighter colors would be great such as the D&D figures. The Super Powers is another line where the bright colors made the figures pop imo. If they remade those I could be okay if they made them without the action features.

Yeah I didn't like the matte-painted Threepio and other droids either and I do not think they have really nailed Mark Hamill's likeness once.
Soft goods are cool. Usually. Not on that Luke though, it just doesn't set right and never looks natural.
