Sometimes I get hit by random memories that come out of nowhere. One came to mind today when I recall the first time I saw the Rom figure in a store. I grew up in a small town, population 2000 if I had to guess, so there was no KMart, Target, etc. The local hardware store had to serve as local toy store with its modest toy section. That would be where I first saw the Rom figure when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Although it briefly caught my attention I don't recall being tempted although that was around 40 years ago. One reason was probably because I was into the Star Wars figure sized figures and Rom would obviously be out of scale. Another reason may have been price point? I recall being quite a big fan of the Marvel Rom comic book for about 3 or 4 years but I can't recall if I saw the figure before buying the comic. So I guess I wonder which came first, the toy or the comic? I have tried to read some of my favorite comics if I find them at flea markets or wherever for cheap but I can't seem to get back into being interested enough to make a habit of it, Rom included.

Geezer π
I just understand this. Cosmic Ghost Rider being one of the most recent ones where I saw how cool the toy looked and now I have to read several volumes of comics about it.
There was an SDCC set with a 3.75β Rom. Itβs highly unaffordable but definitely exists... you can finally have Rom mix in with your Star Wars guys!
