Hey all. Been a few years since I was on. I've had the itch lately to collect again, in at least a limited capacity, so figured I'd hop back on here. I'm glad to see this place is still going...

A first year member returns! Welcome back!
It looks like your collection photos from 2005 were destroyed, so you will have to re-post what is in your collection.

Unfortunately, we just moved and everything's boxed up, so no pics.
As far as what I'm collecting... the bulk of it is MOTU, transformers, gobots, convertors, star wars, some oddball stuff like manglors, blackstar, crystar.
Not looking to go crazy with things. For the time being I'm just focusing on filling out the MOTU collection.

Did you get rid of a part of your collection while not actively collecting?

Did you get rid of a part of your collection while not actively collecting? Unfortunately. I had a pretty sizable blackstar collection that I sold about 3/4 of. Had an almost complete, sealed infaceables collection that I sold mainly because those figures just weren't made to last.

It acts as a grim reminder of mortality. Collecting action-figures is just a side venture.

Ashens attempted to make replacement faces to solve this crisis, it didn't go terribly well Maybe not but pretty clever. Getting the perfectly shaped face mold and material thickness to work properly may be a slight hindrance tho.

Getting the perfectly shaped face mold and material thickness to work properly may be a slight hindrance tho. 'S a cool video. There isn't enuff mucking around with Infacables going on in the world. Now's the bit where I weigh in like an armchair adventurer who hasn't done half as much as Ashen, but I've thought about it. *Looking inside my Brainor, there's a rubber band around the base of the latex head. For creating a tighter vacuum? *Would be good to get inside an Infaceable which still has latex. That way you have a template to go on. *Ashen's latex sculpt really was amazing but I don't believe Infaceables 'human' form had any sculpt to the face, it was like lego-smooth with a paintjob, that being the whole gimmick of 'transforming' to a sculpt via suction. *Finally, Ashen's 'Suave Pierre' vacuum-action was incredible. I'd even go as far as to say that was as good as it got originally and we've let our romantic memory give Galoob higher credit than they ever deserved. Anyway, I'll shut up and stop being Mister-Opinion-Without-Practical-Application guy.

IF you're going to make a real attempt at duplicating the faces I would hazard a guess the way to go would be taking a 3d scan of one of the original heads, sans skin. Then maybe filling in some of the depressions a bit and 3d printing the result to use as a form to mold latex. I can't imagine the original faces were all that complex of a part.

Those would be tough to reproduce. Getting the shape, thickness, paint all correct probably would work.
