It appears that this 3.75" line is a go and I'll have to admit I'm pretty excited. Some collectors don't care for the limited articulation or the $15 ea price tag but I have been waiting for an Apes line that does more than just a few characters that isn't 12". If all the figures I have seen via 2018 Toy Fair get made this would be the kind of line I had hoped the 7" Neca line would have turned into.

I love the NECA line, but Super 7 are coming out of the gate hot with 2 human figures NECA never did. Well, they did do Taylor in his spacesuit, but only as a Mego style. The quality is pretty decent. I bet a lot of people will be on these to mix them in with their vintage Star Wars and other 5POA sci-fi displays.

I don't get excited about 5 poa Star Wars figures these days but that's not because I'm down on 5 poa, although 9 poa would be nice, it's because I already have better and more articulated versions of most of the Star Wars characters so I don't get excited about Star Wars that much these days in general. And in my opinion the Hasbro Marvel 3.75" figures almost have TOO much articulation because I used to have a few and I would put them on a shelf with fun tac under their feet and some of the figures would fall forward due to the ankle articulation. Anyhow, I say bring on the Apes!

My test of articulation is can my figures believably pull off the Boston Crab and walking the dinosaur. There's never too much articulation!

im not crazy about the 5poa on their lines, but its the on purpose bad retro style sculpting that ruins most of their stuff for me. what bugs me with the marvel figures is they have bicep and thigh swivels, personally i would just rather have balljoint elbows and knees that swivels or double joint knees and elbows. i love ball joints so much, they move whatever way you want and look so much better. well except when star wars sometimes makes them a huge big knobby looking knee for some reason. also the plastic the marvel figures are made from is crappy. im still on the fence with these apes figures. really i like the funko stuff far more than the super 7 stuff. ive noticed with some of the most recent releases, there unpainted protos seem to look better than the actual painted releases :/

These don't look bad on purpose to me. The tooling on Ursus's tunic is really intricate for something at this scale. Actually, in this style, the sculpting feels really good and does remind me of the level of detail from the classic Kenner figs, just sharp and clean on the uniform part but maybe a bit soft in the facial likeness department. A lot of the Funko offerings were extremely cheap looking--especially the awful proportions.

I know it sounds kinda off kilter, a collector complaining about TOO MUCH articulation? I actually genuinely understand your situation, cuz it kills me when there's tons of cut lines on a figure. I do like the articulation to be well disguised and practically seamless if possible. Given the choice though, I'd take articulation over form most of the time... lest I not have flashbacks to the oldern days of McFarlane staction statues. Sometimes the Japanese figures are too much, especially with bare arms and legs because it ends up looking weirdly artificial with the huge flesh colored balls that are joints. Play Arts Kai figures are ugly as hell because of this. As far as MU figures, though, I'm not a collector as such but the consensus seems to be that they're pretty great! From a perspective of only following this line through review photos, I'd have to agree.

Well, I did my part and pre-ordered the first six figures on Entertainment Earth. I'll be curious as to see how this series goes since I also backed the Hasbro and NECA lines of Apes in the past.
