Looks like the SW Black Series thread started heading in this direction and I didn't see a Force Awakens thread here yet.
I didn't know about toy hype for Sept 4th because I'm deliberately keeping from hunting out any info on this film until after I see it.
So it was a pleasant, and somewhat nostalgic, surprise to randomly come across a display in my local department store.
I think the 5 POA decision is quite tastefully done, initially I wasn't sure, it took me a little while to realize what I liked about this line.
Firstly it's a refreshing step away from the cartoony figures which have been getting boring on the pegs for a while IMO.
Secondly with the solid sculpts and 5 POA it feels as close to the vintage material without having to fake the retro angle. Re: 5 POA I felt like Saga Legends was really just milking it a bit, especially stuff like the Super Battle Droid which was about as inspired as a McD's meal toy.
I briefly considered picking up the whole line (sans throwback Luke n' Darth) but in the end I settled with Constable Zuvio (+ 3 3/4" BS Luminara Unduli cos' it was buy get 1 free). Zuvio's really the only character here which isn't just a generic humanoid, which gives him that kinda' appeal you get with your first vintage Nien Nunb or Red Snaggletooth.
(scarily, Constable Zuvio is the first thing to come up in my search engine after typing 'const...')
The included 'giant combiner' accessories are a complete ignore from me. Thrown in for the kids like DC or Marvel gimmicks.
I'm not really going down this road per se, my modern SW pick ups are always few and random, but is anyone else here feeling attracted to diving into this release or has Disney already taken enough Star Wars lunch money?

I went out on force friday and got exactly what I wanted. I got a 6 inch Kylo Ren (which I love) and I got the other figure i really wanted: the 3 3/4 Resistance soldier. I'm with you on the 5 POA for the most part. I think it works well. (Could use some bendable knees though) I do love POTF2 figures so it kinda like those. There gave been some great 3 3/4 black series figures and the Vintage Collection from a few years ago, but I'll take the 5 POA for now.

The basic figs are really solid looking. I think the Kylo Ren Black Series is really bitchen. It's kinda awesome that SW has enough power to come out with a figure line with very little marketing or any big fanfare and still be a big hit.
When did Micro Machines come back??? Holy Jebus!

I haven't got much into TFA stuff so far but I have noticed that the figure of Rey is getting scalped like an Adele concert ticket right now which is interesting as I haven't really noticed that happening that much in quite a while in the figure hobby.

Really, the basic assortment Reys got snatched up? That didn't seem to happen at stores here, but the Flametroopers all flew off the shelves in a hurry I noticed.

I wasn't paying a lot of attention until I saw the movie, but I noticed there was not a single carded Rey figure in my area and checked ebay and saw users asking double the price and higher for a figure of her. I also don't see the blue droid that was working on the X-Wings much either.

I was at a far from typical Wal-Mart store near me tonight and I noticed quite a bit more of the $12.83 figures hanging on the pegs as opposed to the $7.96 ones. Granted, the two series are unalike in many ways however there was 72 of the boxed Black Series 3.75" and 6 more leftovers of the last series on the black stormtrooper backer cards for a total of 78 figures as opposed to 26 of the 5 poa figures from the new movie. Most Wal-Marts are basically devoid of Star Wars figures at all in my area so as I said, this store is not typical but the contrast was interesting when you consider there were quite a few of the more expensive First Order stormtroopers available and not one of the less expensive ones.

Thats awesome spock. I cant find the black series rey anywhere Which scale of Rey? I saw a 6 incher on the peg at one Wal-Mart I went to last night, although not the one I previously mentioned. You might check a Kohl's if one is near you but the price will be higher. The Force Awakens mania has finally sort of caught me in its grasp as I finally found a 3.75" 5 poa Rey at a Kohl's(for $11.99)and so I went from having only one(Kylo Ren)to having six or seven TFA figures. There are a few deluxe figures/sets I wouldn't mind having but as far as the vehicles they are pricey and I would literally have to build on to my house or invade the bedroom to house them all. Note- I was at a Target store and saw probably the biggest Star Wars piece I had ever seen, a 6 inch figure-scale TFA Tie Fighter. I didn't catch the price as I was trying to wrap my head around how big the box for it was. Wow.

A 6inch figure scale Tie Fighter - woah! It's funny, shortly after I mentioned people hadn't been obsessing over the 5 POA Rey here, I was browsing the local online stuff, and yep, there's a Rey with the price creeping up over the other figures. Although picking up a Zuvio to store away and a Finn I opened, the only thing TFA I "had to have" was the black elite speeder bike. I'm a big vintage speeder nut, I haven't opened it yet, but I'm looking forward to making a comparison to my ROTJ speeders side by side.

I am interested in getting the "popsicle" vehicle with the Rey figure but beyond that I don't know. The 5 poa Finn that was hugging pegs has started to all but disappear around here but the 6 incher seems to be left alone for now.

The six inch figure spock. (the 3.75 black series figure is awesome too), but the 6 inch is what im looking for I was at three or four stores last night that had that wave of 6 inchers and only one of them had the Rey so she might be a tough grab at retail for a while.

I saw remnants of new waves of the 3.75" Black Series and TFA lines this evening. The overall distribution seems to be choppy but there isn't enough product around to determine if that's the case or whether the stuff is selling out as soon as it hits the pegs. As of this moment, I am down to about five figures I want to get from TFA and I would like to pick up a couple of the vehicles. Some of the very few 3.75" peg warmers such as Constable Zuvio I honestly don't remember seeing in the film but I have only seen it once.

It is so weird that Hasbro produced any obscure characters that are hard to spot in the film. I still have not bought any TFA toys. I hope there will be something new I like by the time episode 8 comes around.

I'm not sure if many other members here use twitter. But I found something retweeted by Tom Savini regarding Rey figures for TFA. In short, a new Rey figure brought about due to fan 'outcries' of too few Reys being available. Wondering if this will lessen the obsession for 'Rey scalpers' or make the original even more sought after.

I'm not sure but I am glad I managed to snag one of the first versions even if it was a few dollars more than average retail. I had a chance to buy two when I found the one I bought but since I didn't need it I figured I would give someone else a shot at it(hopefully not a scalper). Historically, doing that has never worked out for me at all. I learned my lesson with the McFarlane "Necromancer" figure years ago . Right now the scalping for any new TFA figures is like nothing I have noticed in the Star Wars figure realm in quite a while.

Great finds! I could have scalped two 3.75" Black Series Reys' and two or three 6" Reys' over the past few weeks but I passed. Way to go finding the Han Solo, haven't spotted that one yet just possible remnants of the case he is shipping in.
