I have to go with Super Powers. The figures look like they walked right out of the comics and have action features to! One of the best figure lines from the 80s in my opinion. I own a complete set of figures (missing a few weapons here and there though). Check out the Super Powers figure gallery on the main site at www.action-figures.ca/super_powers.htm. I still have to set up the Secret Wars section.

i have to go with secret wars. they had some awesome stuff. ill admit that super powers had action features which was cool. but i loved marvel when i was a kid and still do. secret wars was one of my favorite toys growing up. castle of doom, doom wheel, kangs glider, ironman, hobgoblin black spidey. they were all cool. and the euro pieces were cool too constrictor and iceman...and this isnt a total dis to super powers i had them too and they got played with well...even aquaman ;D

The Secret Wars comic series was 200 times better than the DC Super Powers one. It is one of the best put out by Marvel.

Super Powers here. I've only got Batman, Flash and Wonder Woman, but I love the whole look of them.

I have to go with Super Powers.
'Cuz, they're great looking, bentable knee figures with weapons and cloth capes.

I'd have to vote Super Powers. Why? Super Powers has more of a variety of figures and I like the style. I don't like the "action poses" that you see these days. Secret Wars is okay, but the paint tends to rub off of them too easily (Captain America) and the weapons either repeat too much or are totally lacking. Captain America should really come with a cool red, white and blue shield.

i can agree that secret wars were too alike and lacked any real action at all. super powers were good at independent action features.

I remeber when the final series of the line was in stores. I thought the figures were pretty cool but was getting out of toys. I did buy Tyr though. Shoulda got the rest.
I remeber the first series of Secret Wars being on the Woolworth shelves what seemed like forever.

I`m split down the middle on this one, I liked them both but it`s hard to find any secret wars figs with the the shield inserts in fair condition with out paying out the ass for it.

No contest, Kenner's Super Powers. Once again, another example of Mattel fumbling a licensed property. Where's Hulk or Thor? They took the cheap way out, as usual, with the generic body parts. Plus, other than Cap who really needed that shield?

The shields were the worst! They were completely worthless. The guns weren't really any better. First time I ever saw Dr. Doom with a gun. Aren't they all supposed to have super powers?!?!?!?!?! And where's his cape? And for that matter, why the crappy characters? Who cares about Falcon, for crying out loud. Oh, this line is so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super Powers! OMG! There's no comparison. Hell, more than half of the characters Mattel produced for Secret Wars weren't EVEN IN THE COMIC SERIES!
Super Powers was the line that re-invnted action figures. They saw what Mattel had done with He-Man... and upped it. I mean... to this day it's still the only line that gave s Desaad, Kalibak, Mantis, and Steppenwolf. For a Kirby fan like me... I just look at them and smile!

I liked Secret Wars, because I could get six figures for the price of one Super Powers. Although I liked Superman and Batman I liked Spiderman and Wolverine better. Besides I never really thought much of action features. After the gimmick wore off, I found they just got in the way of play.

I have to say Super Powers as well. I am really liking the Secret Wars figures lately but never had one as a kid...Super Powers on the other hand were and still are a toy that was...super...! I collected them as they came out and the comics as well, but I must say it was the 80's Super Powers T.V. show that made the biggest impact upon me, although i forget the name of the series....was it still Super Friends??

I use to buy Super Powers for $3.97 each and f I am right the Secret Wars figures were the same price within a dollar either way? Did you mean ebay prices now? I have not been looking up the current price of Secret Wars figures on ebay but I know Super Powers go for alot... ??

Secret Wars had some cool vehicles and accessories. Vehicles like the Turbo Cycle and Doom Roller were so imaginative to me as a child (even if neither made much practical sense in a war), and the Doom Tower, while quite small, packed a lot of interesting features. Still, when it came to articulation, eye appeal, posability, extra features, and even just the ability to stand up, Super Powers had the Secret Wars figures beat hands down. While most of the Super Powers vehicles and accessories were underwhelming, the Hall of Justice is just unbelievably cool, and the Batmobile is quite impressive too.

When I was a kid I bought Secret Wars on sale for a buck a piece at Value City. Super Powers were 4 to 6 bucks depending on where you bought them. Average was probably $5 in my town.

I finally have one.

I dig the super powers, But, secret wars was a better comic series. The super powers have more accurate figures, I feel. I just picked up about ten figures, W/O weapons or capes for 5 bucks this weekend and I snagged a clark kent for 50 cents last week. All of the figures I got looked like they were opened, then immediately put in a box and forgotten about. Here are the ones I got: 1. superman 2. mantis 3. cyclontron 4. Desaad 5. martian manhunter 6. aquaman 7. red tornado 8. batman 9.robin 10. green arrow 11. mr. miracle I hope I'll get their accessories & weapons. P.S. super powers batmobile is the best looking one with the best action features, the claw the ram the eyes popping up.

Although I'm a bigger fan of Marvel, I have to admit the Super Powers figures definetly seemed to be designed a whole lot better. The Secret Wars figures looked cool, especially guys like Spider-man and Hobgoblin, but the shield thing was pretty lame and it was a lot harder to pose the figures. Of course Super Powers also has the advantage because they produced something like 34 figures while Secret Wars only had 16.

Super Powers had better sculpting, better detail, pretty much better everything. I think Marvel characters deserved better than the Secret Wars line by Mattel. The Mattel figures aren't very visually interesting at all. If Mattel had done the Secret Wars figures as good as Kenner did the Super Powers,it would probably be more regarded than just the footnote in toy history that it is right now.

Yes, I always preferred DC Comics to Marvel, and I Prefer the Super Powers line. However, Super Powers is one of my favorite lines of all time, so Secret Wars didn't stand a chance. I did have a lot of Secret Wars toys as a kid though and I did enjoy them. The Tower of Doom and the Doom Cycle were a lot of fun, as were Daredevil and Black Spiderman, but Dr. Doom and the shields were a disappointment.

Super Powers, though I'm very biased as well - grew up playing with almost the whole set (I got about 75% of the figures growing up). Better looking and concept, and the figures aren't just headswaps.
Not to say that some of the Secret Wars figs aren't cool - they DID give us some decent figures.
Outside of the Batmobile and the Lex-Soar 7, though, I think the Secret Wars vehicles may have the edge.

Although Super Powers had better articulation i preferred Secret wars instead as they seemed to be more durable. Plus their stance was more "action" looking, like they were ready to jump into battle. I especially like Doctor Octopus and Dr. Doom. Wolverine was cool as was Iron man. From Super Powers i liked The Flash, Hawkman and Aquaman.
I really wish Secret wars lasted a bit longer and released more figures. I did get Dr. Doom and Iron man on the same day, later i got Dr. Octopus and Spiderman as well as Capt. America. I really liked this line as it was the first Super hero line i got into that i bought more than one figure. Plus i was about 7 when they came out and they were halfway between He-Man and Star Wars in size made them great for looking like Super hero's in size against the Empire.
Super Powers were also really great and i got into them when the Michale Keaton Batman film came out as they seemed to show up beside the Film carded figures too. Plus in Scotland they would show up in loads of different stores on discount. Not dissing Super powers but i have great memories of a vacation i went on with my brother and Mum to an Aunts house and on the way there we stopped for lunch and next door to the restaurant was a toy store and that's when i got Iron Man and Dr. Doom. Dr. Doom's Tower was also a very cool playset, i especially love the doors that open as they were like claws. Today i have a Doc Ock (minus tentacles, thanks Kyle for adding that to my collection of figures, but i want to get some more. Magneto, Dr. Doom and Kang are on my list of figures to get)

I'll have to say Super powers even though I'm a marvel fan. If Marvel had been able to put out the same quality figures as well as the numerous characters that the DC line did, it could have been a dream come true, for it's time!

Both are classic toylines but I have to with Super Powers. It had almost all of the best characters and they looked good to. Their "superpowers" was in characters and I liked the mini comics that came with them.
Not bashing SW but they just wasnt as cool. The hologram was neat but really didnt add to anything other than looking sorta cool.
Between the comic series, I like secret wars better than superpowers. However, the Hannabarbara superfriends series with the superpowers tieins were pretty neat.
