I have been with Star Wars, you could say, from the beginning. I saw the first movie at the age of six in 1977 and started collecting modern Star Wars twenty years later after I had played with and gotten rid of all my "vintage" stuff. For some reason I got a weird feeling when I bought a 6 inch Black Series Darth Vader yesterday and noticed the "Disney" logo adorned the back of the packaging. I know that for the remaining toy companies out there selling toys isn't as easy as what it used to be and I already knew about the merger of the two but why does it feel wrong to me that the same company that is responsible for animated icons like Goofy, Mickey Mouse, etc has now moved into the Star Wars neighborhood?

When I first heard of the merger all I could imagine was the Punisher logo with Mickey Mouse ears ? Edit: soz, realize I'm referrin' to Marvel not SW. Better make that an AT-AT with Pluto's ears n' tail.

I'm not a Disney hater, this just somehow seems wrong to me. I'm a more casual but loyal SW fan so I'm wasn't offended when I heard the new movies weren't going to recognize the SW EU this just seems like TRU carrying groceries or music cds or something like that.

I don't like Disney and Star wars mixing for other reasons, but I never really thought about the logo.
You know that Disney DID make star wars toys that they sold in their parks. I wonder if those have the Disney logo?
One thing that I collect is a line of the Disney PVC SW toys from nineteen ninety because some of them are recasts of vintage toys. Even though they were made by Disney, they don't say Disney, they have the same LUcas Film Licensing stamp as the other toys made by Kenner, etc.

I saw some Disney/Pixar 'Cars' toys done up to look like Star Wars characters, ie. Stormtrooper racecar, Darth Vader Tractor, but I never placed much thought on it until this thread. Suppose they can tack a Star Wars theme on any other property they own now... scary. As well as making blatant undisguised references to SW and Marvel characters in any film or show owned by Disney from now on, huh?

I am a huge Disney fan and Star Wars fan. I think it will be a good marriage. Disney now controls the Star Wars brand. We will have to wait and see how Disney does with the movies. If Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy are s barometer wr will be in for good things.

Last I heard, Disney decided against the merger with Hasbro.
