Everyone's got one, right? That blessed memory of THE toy that was the best thing in the world when you were a little kid.
For me, it was a Rev'N'Go Pink Panther Mobile. (I don't know if that is what is was actually called, it's just how I remember it.)
Anyway, if you remember the cartoon, it was an accurate replica of the Pink Panthermobile that he turned up in at the start of the show. With one minor alteration - a Dang great wheel through the center of the cockpit! What you did was feed a plastic line through the body and then pull it out as hard as you could. Then you placed it on the ground and it zoomed off into the distance! What fun!
I doubt that I will ever be able to get an actual replacement toy for my collection (survivability was never a consideration!), but if anyone knows where I could find some pictures, it might just put a tiny glow in my bitter old heart!
One more before I sign off. Not really a toy, but related. Anyone remember The Banana Splits?
I used to have a model kit of the Banana Buggy. I THINK the kit came with a figure of EACH of the Bananas, and Decals for each of their own custom Buggies, so you could decide which one you wanted to make. (I could be wrong, it was a LONG time ago, and I was just a little kid.)
Anyway, I would really like to see any pictures that may be available.
What was yours?

I hope that you have not called this to someone's attention and they buy it out from under you.

If it happens, it happens. I knew it was a risk posting it, but I can't afford it at the moment anyway, so good luck to anyone else who may be interested!
I am just TOTALLY gobsmacked that they are still out there - I haven't seen one for 45 years!

It is seriously hard to pin down the single coolest toy I ever had. I had years and years of enjoyment from the Star Wars toys I had a child and I can pick a few that stand out as favorites: Death Star Station, Sears cantina 4 pack, my first Star World case full of early figures... but I think the coolest toy I had was a simple box of legos. I'm pretty sure this was it: www.ebay.com/itm/like/271482488324?lpid=82I played with that set incessantly. There's always something new to make with legos. I even used to build things for my star wars toys. Lego sets today leave little to the imagination. I really loved that old set.

Well I had to think about this one for a bit. I've had all sorts of toys growing up and still today. I'd have to say the toy I got the most excited over and played with a lot was pulsar. I still have him today, 33 years later. Nothing beats the clear chest with flowing blood and breathing lungs. His outfit is a little bright but that just adds to him I guess.

You can't beat Lego, Mate! When kids ACTUALLY had to use their OWN imaginations to invent stuff!
I've still got a couple of boxes up in the loft - REAL Lego I'm talking about - just different sizes of bricks that you put together any way you wanted. (Don't get me wrong, I think the new Lego stuff that can only be put together in one shaped kit looks really neat - but it seems a bit sad for the kiddies. When do THEY get to exercise their imagination?
On a side note (and I am sorry if this is an insulting question - it merely highlights my ignorance on the subject.) Have you ever heard of Meccano?

I had toys that came out before everyone was so concerned about injuries that MAY happen.
I had a Johnny Eagle Red River rifle that shot projectile bullets. The bullets came with a rifle bullet shaped bullet and the nose came out with a stem attached that allowed you to shoot if at things and then retrieve the nose, reassemble them with the cases and keep shooting. I set it up with army men in the living room and took shots from both ends of the room trying to knock down the soldiers on each side.
I played "War" out in the back yard with neighbor kids and it was used there (without the bullets, of course) as we fought the imaginary enemy.

That's nothing! Dude! Did you ever have Napoleon Solo from Man From Uncle?
This doll came with a SERIOUSLY hardcore cap-gun - scared the Wossnames out out of me!
This bit of kit ATE little kids fingers for BREAKFAST! It was seriously the scariest thing I ever saw - and it was supposed to be a toy!
I don't know if Kuryiakin had the same gun, I only ever had the loose doll, but I am sure Ducky would not approve!

The Banana Splits Banana Buggy plastic model kit was made by Aurora in 1969. The kit included parts for all four Banana Splits figures plus one Amphicat Banana Buggy. On the TV show each of the Splits had his own custom Buggy, and the kit provided optional parts to build any one of the four. Aurora produced many kits of figures and vehicles based on popular TV shows and movies in the 1960s and ‘70s. Aurora went out of business and most of the kit molds were destroyed. However, those models were so highly prized that several companies have reissued many kits, either using some of the original Aurora tooling that has survived or by creating new molds by copying the authentic kit parts. Although there have been a large number of such reissues, the Banana Buggy isn’t among them. So, the kit is pretty rare and commands a high price. Several years ago I sold a couple of them on eBay in the $500 to $575 price range. Below are the box top and parts of the kit, plus the sale flyer that Aurora sent to hobby kit retailers.

The Johnny Eagle gun did fire caps too, but I though it was better with the bullets and the richoccet sound it made with each shot.

The kit for $1.50? Cool. Odd that the characters were all yellow and did not look like they did on the box.

Thanks so much for posting those pictures! It's really nice to see the kit again!
Yeah, I remember Aurora, but I must admit that I didn't realise that the kits command so much money these days.
The other one I wanted as a nipper was the flying sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. A mate of mine had it and painted it up really nice. Couldn't afford one myself, so when he got bored with it and decided to throw it away I asked if I could have it. He said that he would prefer to throw it away...
